Todays Stumper

OK kids, here's a story that was told to me this morning as a challenge to figure out what went wrong. I think I've got the right answer, but I want to see what other's say:

The Car: 1998 Mitsu 3000GT 2WD 5sp.
The Owner: A buddy, with 80K+ on this car.
The Signs: Owner pulls out of garage this morning, and sees puddle of clear, colorless, odorless liquid on the floor. Not a huge amount, but enough to notice and worry about.
The Incident: Owner stops at stop sign, shifts into first, and releases clutch pedal. Pedal does not move. Does not lift off floor. He can pull it up with his hands, but it just flops around.

Guesses? My thoughts are clutch master cyl.....

That or the cable came disconnected. This happened to a friend of mine in his old audi but it was when he was shifting to 2nd or 3rd so we had enough speed to pull to a side street.
He ended up driving it home with no clutch.... turn car off, jam it in first, turn car on when light turns green, shift w/o clutch by just jamming into gear. Once he got fixed it with parts from his parts car...
