Big Up's To GST. (Semi Long)

I know there are tons of posts about GST. I thought I would share my experience from tonight.

First and foremost, these guys were beyond friendly and kind. I felt the whole “warm and fuzzy” the minute I walked into the shop.

I went to get my TBE installed and an AP2 w/ custom tune. While waiting I learn a lot about the car, things to look for, things not to do, and in general a dump of information.
That to me was priceless coming from a non Subaru background and not knowing much at all. I just purchased my 05 used off the lot, a noob indeed. However, being that I know as much as I have read in the last month, I was impressed with the overall service, friendly talks, and straight honesty.

I met a few others out there, I can not remember screen names, but everyone was cool.

The only downside about my night was not GST driven. I found out my ECU was “Married” to a Version 1 AP, I’m screwed in that department. However, Mike told me it also had a custom tune which he was able to ID as his own. At least someone did it right. I am in the process of hunting that AP down, I found the previous owner so I am praying I can get the AP to divorce it, heh. If not I think will have some downtime and send it away.

At any rate, the overall 3-4 hours was awesome. I truly enjoyed looking at other Subaru’s and learning more about the car. In addition, I want to thank everyone’s feedbacks which lead me to GST in the first place. It’s amazing what a little time and reading can do for your outcome with tuning and in general learning about the process.

Now for my numbers:

Granted, I do no know what each line means and if this is even good or not. However, from the talks with Mike and fellow staff, it seems that I am ok for a while. My main concern was leaving there and being in a worse state since I added the TBE and could not receive the custom tune. Mike was great in adding confidence and assuring my numbers were ok. Still needs work, but hey that’s how things are.

Anyhow, here we are

Max Power: 263.2 @ 5500 RPM
Max Torque: 274.2 @ 3500 RPM

Total Power Min: -10
AFR MIN: 10.7
Engine Torque Min: -23

Total Power Max: 263
AFR MAX: 15.9
Engine Torque Max: 274

Total Power Avg: 157
AFR AVG: 12.5
Engine Torque Avg: 177

I’ll try to find a way to scan the dyno. I know it might be hard to imagine the whole curves and what not.

In closing, good night minus the AP issue, but thanks again i-club and GST.

Ps. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, still learning my away around here.

find someone with one of those accessECU cables, and have them reflash your ecu with a stock flash

same thing happened to Suzanne's, but with a version of the ECUTek software that won't allow writing over it.

TBE and some AP 1 Map with a Tune. That is the reason I can not RE-Custom tune the AP2 with Mike @ GST, it's showing as Married to AP 1.

BTW thanks for that advice, I will talk to Mike and see if that works.

If not, I have to mail the ecu in.

So that method worked?

Interesting, Anyone know for sure if this will divorce the AP?
I hear the only way is to get the original AP used or send in the ECU to cobb.

Yes you can flash an OEM rom file with OpenEcu and then marry another AP to the car no problem.

Drop us a line Jason we can get you sorted.

It won't unmarry the AP, the AP will still consider itself to be married to the ECU, but it will remove the AP software from the ECU, which is what he's looking to do.
