They probably would. Yeah, I think the construction going on the whole plaza throws people off. The place is very clean, the people are nice, and they have a decent beer and sake selection.

It's my dad's personal friend's shop. Best stuff I've had in the area, only better I've ever had was in Hawaii. It's a small hole in the wall, and looks like it won't be great, but looks are really deceiving in this case.
I'd recommend going for dinner rather than lunch, because this place is tiny and it gets PACKED during lunch because the location is so close to so many business parks.
oh yeah, I should put in, only go here if you're looking for authentic type sushi (read fish and rice no crazy sauces or anything). If you want some crazy rolls like a rock 'n roll or other fancy sushi rolls with sauces etc, then you're not going to find any good ones here.

Not sure if it matters to you guys but many of the sushi places in South Bay are not Japanese run/owned. Most if not all of them are Korean owned/ran and they may have never been to Japan before. A coworker of mine tells me that there is a Korean Sushi school down in LA and they apparently just give these "Sushi Chef certificates" to anybody who is willing to pay their school feels. I dunno about you guys but Korean/Chinese owned Japanese restaurants just irk me.
The cut of the fish has more to do with their supplier than anything else.
What sets the "real" Japanese restaurants aside isn't the quality/taste of the common main dishes, it seems to be the side dishes (I don't even know the names of). Seems like you have to go to a real J-owned restaurant to get stuff like all those tsukemono type of things: pickled cabbage, that black branch-like seaweed, itty bitty pickled cherry plums, pumpkin mash whatever, agar edamame, etc etc.
I like this stuff too, but if it's just the SUSHI part, I don't think it matters J/K/C or whatnot. Mostly due to the individual owner.

real japanese people too
