Bay Bridge Photo Shoot

sitting here on my day off, and thought, the bay bridge will close tonight at 8pm,
and that it would be pretty cool to have a few subies drive over it just at close and get a few photos taken.... anyone down for that?

I heard the closure was due to a flaw in construction, so no.

They are replacing some of the bolts with temporary ones until they get the finalized ones in. The new bridge will be operational WITH the TEMPORARY pieces, or so I heard.

Yup, after tomorrow at 8pm no one will be driving on that bridge unless your part of the construction crew taking it down

The closure is announced to be for the process of disconnecting the old span and connecting up the new span, ASAP, so the contractor can collect their $20M bonus. There are many flaws in the construction, most have been reported in the news, and both bridges are pretty scary really. The existing bridge is sitting on Douglas Fir trees that were pounded into the mud back in the 30's. The new bridge sucks for new reasons that do not make sense in this day and age. It seems that a clerical issue some ten years ago ended up having the rods be pickled in hydrochloric acid when they should not have been, or some-such.

Should be fun. BTW I came across the bridge around 4AM on the 18th and it was pretty empty. There was however about 6 cruisers on the bridge, with one every couple hundred feet so it seemed.

I love that Douche and Bukkake mean the same thing in two other languages but something completely different here
