Bay Area Runs Big Bust

i think the main reason so many people tend to street race in the bay area is due to the fact the closest track around here is either infineon or sac raceway. I would bet anyone if a track opened that was more local we would see a lot less street racing around here.

does your cat and intake have a CARB number that must be visible? the modified exhaust ticket is because of Db levels. which is a fixit ticket, so no biggy, but make sure u have all ur other stuff straight (ins/license/reg) so when u get pulled over they dont get u on other stuff for pulling you over for the original BS reason.

hmm its not about having carb number these days. its up to the damn cop if he wants to let you go or shaft you. i have few friends slightly modded cars all legal stuff they still get send to state ref because the cops dont know what the **** his doin or his just being an *******. it really comes down to the cops
Now, if you want to ride around with parts that you know aren't "street legal" for your car, then you've gotta understand that if you get caught, it's on you. You've gotta pay to play.
Now, I know that there are some cops out there that are dicks and have sent completely completely absolutely stock cars to the ref simply to be a dick. And those aren't the ones I'm talking about. I'm saying cops are taught that if they see steel braided lines, if they see red/blue fittings, if they see polished parts, it's most likely aftermarket and to send that person to the ref to check to see if it's a street legal part or not.

You also have to think of the idea behind the law. The cop doesn't know every single part that is and isn't carb legal for a car. He doesn't know what the stickers are supposed to look like or how to spot a fake. He doesn't have a list of phone number for aftermarket part makers in order to call and verify that the CARB number in in fact a true CARB number for that part made for that car. The only people who have/know all of the above info is the ref. Therefore, the ref was made up so that the cops could refer you to someone who does know what they are doing, and does know what should and shouldnt be on there. Basically, if a cop has a question as to whether or not something should be on there, he can make a guess, or send you to the ref, and by law, that is at his discretion.

You know I bet if they didn't close down Fremont drag strip back in the eighties, there would be a lot less street racing today.
The good old days, I still have many fond memories of the place. My dad took me there back in the seventies to meet Carroll Shelby. My dad was big on racing the '66 Shelby GT350H. This is when you could get it from Hertz rent a car back then. I remember he always told me he tried to get the same car because the 2 others they had at Hertz had different roll cage holes under the carpet and he didn't want two different roll cages in the garage. My dad always had one reserved every weekend. He said the car was a good year because I was born later that year. He got me into go kart racing at Fremont Raceway when I was 12 because there was also a oval track there. As I progressed it moved onto a race track near Sacramento where I went every weekend special thanks to my sponsers back then - Dutch Boy Paints and Invader Go Karts.
Long story short it was really a sad day back in November 1988 when Fremont Raceway came to a close. Though my dad hadn't been there in years it brought tears in his eyes from his past there and where I started.
Granted there was always street racing back in the day, there was just a lot less due to the Fremont Drap Strip...
