Battery Problem.

I havne't been driving my rex for a while now. approximately 3 months. The battery is basically drained from the alarm.. I have a phythom alarm which is the same as the Viper VX991 or something like that.

Anyhow I jumped started my car and drove it to the city for approximately 30mins and back.

I feel that my batteries are not really holding up. The battery is basically new got it less then a year ago. Optima Redtop.

Is there a correct way to recharge the battery or something. Thanks.

in less you got it from costco I work there we don't pro rate the optimas

also there is a cretin way to charge them the you need to be trickle charged at around 2amps on a battery charger if you use the quick charge at a higher amps it can burn out the gel packs

well could it be not the battery or maybe the alternator?

i only have had bad experiences with the optimas. i have had 3 and all of them went bad within the first year, and were replaced on warranty.

id try swapping it out just to make sure its not the alternator or some other leech current.

With your car running, do your headlights flicker if you turn the stereo up or use your turn signals? If so, then it's your alternator that isn't properly charging your battery. You can also just take your car to Kragen or Autozone and they can test your alternator while it's on the car too. Likewise they can test your battery too if it's off the car.

Just drive into the parking lot and have them test your alternator and then if that checks out fine, take your battery out and they can test it inside the store.

yeah.. when it drives it drives fine withou lights flickering or anything..
it's just when i turn it off after it sits for a while my alarm goes off since my alarm gets activate when the battery gets low thinking that some one is trying too disconnect my battery

I might just take it to kragon tomo and get it checked out.
