Barry Bonds as an Oakland Athletic?

MLB.com reports Barry Bonds agent speaking with A's GM about Bonds possibly joining the A's as their next power hitter after Frank Thomas is now no longer with the A's.

I have been a Barry Bonds and Giants fan since as long as I can remember so I hate to see Barry leave at all but if he left to anyone then the A's would be the next best. At least we would be able to still go to games and see him play. Also Barry switching from N.L. to A.L. is perfect for him because then he can be a DH and still break records without injuring himself out in the field which will only become more common with his age. I want Barry to stick around in baseball for a little time more then eventually be put into the hall of fame so I hope if Barry leaves the Giants then he will go to the A's.

Your thoughts and comments

hmmmmm.....he's in his 40's now dude. Not many people play the field at that age. Beyond that....when he needed to he still made some plays out there last year. I'd say anyone with as many gold gloves as he has deserves some slack in their 40's. The fact he is still there says a lot.

Me personally. I think it's a perfect fit. i was afraid he'd go to the angels. I'd like to see him go to DH and hit 800hr's.

from my understanding either he has a place or his kid is down in that area. I remember before last season they were talking about it.

the question is...does he leave as a free agent or do the giants sign and trade him??

free agent most likely but if they signed and traded then the giants could be able to get a few players like up and coming AAA players or something plus some current active angels which wouldnt be bad if they are gonna lose barry anyway

Also....will the A's pay for him.

When is that new stadium suppose to be built? Will it be the second house that barry built?

If he wont play for 2-3mil a year it is not going to happen. It might be more bennifical to bring up Daric Barton and let get some at bats against major league pitching.

Barry Bonds puts buts in seats, he does not win Championships. Billy Beane wants a ring so he can tell all the MoneyBall haters to **** off.

i think the A's would pay for him. the stadium would not be built for some time as well as the A's still have some time left on their current lease at the oakland location. haha if they built the new stadium with a "barry right field" that would be funny cause then barry would have two stadiums for him.

no one player wins championships.

I bet the a's would pay closer to 10 mil. They gave johnny damon $11 to do nothing and Jermaine Dye $14 to be injured.

There is probably a good shot he would come to the A's, and we would probably get a small discount on him since it is still close to home for him. Don't count out the Angels or any other SoCal team going after him either, altho im more concerned for the AL team. I wouldnt root for Barry, not as much for steroids but hes just an ***, period. But i'm not gonna complain if he hits 40+ HRs and 130+ RBI's either.... he would be the perfect DH for sure.
