Why not?
Back in the good old days (ancient history for you, obviously) we had BMX bikes that not only had only ONE GEAR, but they had Bendix brakes as well. In order to stop, one had to push the pedals backwards, which would lock up the rear tire and allow you to skid to a stop. Made for a great time when jumping the bike ramps, or sliding out in the puddles left on the sidewalk.
I'd LOVE to have my old BMX bike back. I wonder where it is now??
