Bah...too all SBC customers.

just so you know....a 24hr intent to terminate contract is in effect for tomorrow noon. That means a "possible" strike.

So considering the union represents 100k employees or over 60% of SBC's work force I'd say that you should not expect the best service over the strike period.

Keep your ear on the news for further information.

As for me...you don't know me and this didn't come from me...lol.

Exactly. I cant imagine the service getting any worse except maybe them just turning it off alltogether.

Our service rating dropped off the tables with pacbell switched to SBC. But they have gotten better and better recently. A ton of people were really unhappy when DSL was first rolled out because it was rolled out too early. Our installers and support staff knew about as much as those purchasing it....smart I know...but that's what happened. So there was a lot of trial and error and a bad reputation followed and there were a lot of unhappy customers/former customers. Now if you ask most people that have gotten dsl in the last...6 months to a year....most are happy or at least content with their service and the product. I am not an advocate of SBC believe me....but those are just the facts. Most people that are unhappy now are people that have lower speeds than expected and usually it's because they are super far on connection distances. They either need to call in and get put on a closer hub or deal with it because they are too far away...sucks. SBC has a bad habit of putting people on hubs that are too far...even if there are closer ones? go figure. So if you have slow connections check your foot specs.

Like I said..not an advocate...I actually wish I could get a new job and get the hell out of the bay area and get back to Santa Cruz...but alas...not many graphics jobs out there.

so yeah...just a heads up...and believe met he service can get much much worse. Imagine say a director or level 2 manager that is say...a writer that has recieve a few hours of quick training..yes hours... and now they are your service reps. They are answering your tech calls...shoot your info calls. I need a number for joe smoe's pizza in milpitas california...um..hold on please...I don't know what I'm doing....or shoot not getting through at all because there are about 15% of the people there usually are on the calls and those people are working 12 hours shifts.....fun.

I never had any issues with my SBC DSL, and I'm hoping that the trend will continue now that I've renewed for another year.

hmmm, from what i know the strike is a done deal. if anyone has pending jobs they are waiting to happen (ie. installations) be prepared to wait a hell of a lot longer. atleast until the strike is done and over with.

iBlue...just means they can strike at noon CST time if they wish.

And after reading my email this morning I'd say it's a done deal. I'll be calling the CWA local office in about 20 minutes.

I am more pissed than you could imagine right now. SBC has no concern for their employees. The people that actually DO the work and MAKE the money. The top guys want to fatten their pockets at the expense of the common person trying to support their families. Screw it. I'm getting my resume together and a cd with some graphic files on it as well. I need to get the hell out of this company.

I hope all of you withdrawl from your SBC plans. They do not deserve the business of good people like yourselves. Go to Verizon......

as of 12.01 am friday sbc is on strike. until 12.01 tuesday.

it's only a 4 day at this point to drive home the importance of negotiations to SBC upper management.

I absolutely hate SBC. Ive had nothing but problems and nothing but TERRIBLE customer service. The same goes with everyone I talk to. My DSL hasnt been working since the day it was installed, and every goddamn time I call, they run me through the same damn flow chart of stupid questions. I mean, I'm ON THE PHONE with them and the line signal is failing, yet they tell me that if a tech comes out to our apartment and doesnt find anything, we GET CHARGED $60?! What the hell is that? As soon as I get the time to deal with this (ie, after finals are over) I'm going to cancel my contract.
