Bad Luck...that is me.
Could be worse but still..I am in the bad luck zone.
Driving home last night. Weekend at the cabin with the girl and the dog.
Coming up on that interchange from 205 to the 5 where there is always..ALWAYS a huge traffic slow down....
Car full of metal/punk rock chicks is riding my butt so I decide to take the opening in the traffic and get away so she wouldn't rear end me when traffic stopped. So I Do that. I make the pass get back in the slow lane and go. Well in the process I pass two other car that are all clearly together...punk rock boys with red eye liner and black hair and what not. So the traffic slows...I slow only to see the green car full of chicks go right by me totally rocking out...then slam...she slams on the brakes missing the car in front by a foot....truck slams on its brakes and I even said...oh crap they're not gonna make it.....stop like 2/3 inches short of the green car.....when I look to me left.....the grey car with two kids in it is sliding...I knew immediately they weren't gonna make it so I start to go right to avoid them and what debree might fly off the cars and let them take my lane if need be...
Then it comes...crash.....boom. I watch the air bags go off and the passenger window just blow up...white clowd then as I keep stearing right...I hear it...ping..ping...crack. .....****. I stop. Jump out almost get smacked by a car trying to go around the accident. I being a helpful guy stopped only to make sure they could get out of the freeway and were all ok.
Then I see it....the tiniest little hole in my paint with glass in it...then I see another....well they are all over. Glass totally imbedded in my paint and went right in my rear window all over my car and hit my dog. My rear door, bumper, quarter panel, weather strip and roof rail all have damage from what I have sound so far.
The truck that got hit..bumper half hanging off...the green car which I'm sure the truck hit...both took off and left the poor guy there.
I told him I'd testify that it was not his fault...I saw the whole thing coming literally from about 2/3 miles away.
But it sucks...I have had nothing but bad luck with insurance. I don't want to have to pay for this crap at all. And I want a good freaking job done. My car is brand freakin new and I don't want half the car one color of white and the other another color.
It was kinda funny though...my girlfriend said the guy walked up to my car all calm then clearly looked down and saw dealer plates and the big WRX on there and just went......"OhhhhhhhH, Shhhhit"
bah. Just my luck..but like I said...could have been worse if I had not avoided them they could of slammed into me like that. Crazy kid drove his car home...45 minutes back to turlock....headlights, grill, bumper..hood, fenders mashed. Windshield busted. No passenger window. air bags out.....drove it home. Definately totalled.

man that sucks. props though for a) keeping a positive perspective and b) being aware of dangerous drivers... if you hadnt reacted the way you had maybe someone would have gotten seriously injured.
hope it all works out for the best

I go up and down there pretty regularly going from the bay up to Arnold.
If you take the 11th street exit from 205 it will take you through the Tracy but has far less traffic, but more Traffic Lights, and you dont have to worry about the people behind you giving you a butt slam. Once you go all the way through 11th street it will merge into I-5 north.
ya that sucks and dealing with insurance is always a drag
but just keep in mind it's just a car and you've got the dog and the girl still and everyone's ok
that's more important than 100 cars

true that special K.
I was fine until about 20 minutes down the road...that's when I started getting pissed. I've just had really really bad luck with insurance companies and cars getting jacked up by other people.
I had my truck smashed in an accident where the dude ran a red light..left before I could get his information..he even got the ticket for fleeing the seen of an accident.....they called the accident my fault after all that. The cops even showed up 3 hours late. Huge mess.
My civic had 3 people smash into it. It never got painted right so the colors were off a bit. It got broken into twice and nearly stolen....something broke off in the ignition.
Just a lot of crap and insurance companies always find a way to cut corners with me or screw me.
On top of this I'm looking at a strike at work. I just moved and I have $13 in my account and probably $500 in bills I'm behind on. Oh...and I'm looking at getting knee surgery on a torn ACL.
Just been one of those sessions in life where all the **** comes at once. So I'm pretty stressed.
But like I said you guys are saying it could have been much much worse. I mean my car is scratched but it's fine. My dog could have easily gotten glass in his eye. It could have very easily have been me getting rear ended if I wasn't driving safely and fully aware of what was going on. Stuff like that. So I'm stoked.
And I'm happy the kid seemed really nice and he has a good insurance company so hopefully they'll take care of me.....
I'm one of those really really nice guy that tends to roll with the punches so I get taken advantage of quite often....this time I will do my best not to be. I fully expect my paint to look perfect....I mean I still have my dealer plates on for crying out loud.
you guys can check it out at UCKK tuesday.
It's not crazy bad...but it's definately enough to **** a terribly **** car guy off. Little spots...all over...strait to the metal...and I'm sure there are a few I've messed...hopefully it missed the roof but I'm kinda hoping it caught my wing...I have two scratches on it already..haaa.

Man that blows. Good thing you were on top of things. I know how it feels though... i came out to my 3 week old WRX one morning and found the left headlight hanging out, the bumper hanging off, and a 2 inch gouge all the way down the drivers side from the front door to the bumper. Hit and run... but some guy left a note saying he saw a tow truck do it, but then refused to help us track down the guy who did it. Insurance company went after the company but gave up and i still had to pay the f'n deductible. Don't even get me started on how long it took the body shop to match the Java Black... nightmare.
But, it'll get fixed and you'll forget about it soon enough i'm sure.

that sucks
mad props for you tho for having enough foresight to see that something bad was going to happen and try to keep yourself out of all the mess that you knew was comming.
I think if more people did that, we would have a lot less accidents and problems on the road

"when life gives you lemons...make lemonade... and then p!ss in it and give it to your enemies" <-forgot where the quote is from, just always makes me feel better when life is in the toilet
good luck with all the **** that's going on - seems that the WRX was the brown icing on the crap filled cake.
