bad experience at costco

I walk into Costco ready to buy new tires. I tell the guy I want potenzas re760's. Asks me make and model. I tell him I have a 2.5i and he says "why do you want these tires? You have a 2.5i." I tell him I've read reviews on these tires and I saw that they were good. He tells me " these are for if you go to laguna seca and race." I then told him " I still want these tires." He then tells me "I'd sell them to you if you had a wrx or an sti." I tell him that you dont need to have one of those todrive in the curves. With suspension mods I can keep up with a wrx in the curves.

Let's just say he kept on saying things about the wrx and my car. I ended up not buying the tires.

wow, what a dick. When I used to sell tires I'd put race tires on an ice cream truck if you asked me too, clearly they dont work on commission

Yeah , the Costco tire guys are douchy. Same with my Murano. They push the tires that they are told to . They kept trying to tell me that the bf goodrich tires I wanted would make it drive like a truck. I looked at him and said "so then I can haul a bunch of crap in the bed of my new truck!" he didn't like it very much but they still put them on. I'm a bit of a smart *** but it get the point across.

I've never had worse experiences dealing with a tire dealers, than when I have been to Costco. They speak down to you, refuse to sell tires, and are overall douchebags. I have had bad experiences at three different Costcos.

One example: GF took her car to the Novato Costco to get a flat fixed. They called her to come pick up her car, and we go pick it up. Leaving Costco, we notice another tire is flat! WTF kind of tire retailer doesn't look at all four tires?

Most retailers match prices these days, it's not worth it to go to Costco. Speaking with people who have worked for Costco, it's typically the most difficult department to staff.

I think they only sell the OEM tire size to you as well. So if you have after market rims, you're SOL.

I like Costco but agree the tire dept sucks. Tirerack has much better pricing.

I'd complain to management and tell them the situation. See you cant get a discount on some tires.

wow that blows. I got my 760's from Wheel works on Duane by my friend Steven. He is really good at what he does, takes great care of the car and does well on pricing too.

i love my 760's by the way. Most of the time i describe them as a "reverse roll of duct tape" lol. Good luck on what you decided to do

you should have told the guy you had a built 6 speed sti tranny and a 450hp motor sitting in your backyard ready to be transplanted, and that he should shut the f*** up and give you the tires you want instead of running his mouth like he has a clue what he is talking about and then remind him of the fact he works in a costco tire department, he is not a race mechanic. just like you said it doesnt matter what your motor is when your taking turns at high speed or under hard acceleration. my old stock 07 civic would take corners a ton faster than my current stock mushy 09 wrx suspension
