Baby Buggies... (useful thread)

So a useful thread...

So what do all the parents use for pushing the little guys around..

I was looking at getting a stroller. I have my mind made up and wanted to hear from the troops out in the field.

Real world what works and what doesn't work.

My pick is right here.
Peg Perego Skate

Can be used for nap time or changed quickly for seat time.

Folds up really nice

They even have a matching bag that goes with it. Its made in Italy so it can be parked next to my motorcycles...

nah, get one the travel systems

stroller carseat combo.

we have one of the Graco ones. the hole stroller folds up with one turn of the wrist.

plus when the baby is small and you go for a drive in the car you can take him/her out of the base and click them righ tinto the stroller without ever waking them. and the same vice versa.

pm me i can get you a discount on one.

also they graco snugrides you can get 2 bases one for your car one for the wifes and share the same carseat.

they have tons of styles

one of the best things we had

plsu when he/she grows up it can be used for older kids with the regular stroller and hit me up i will make one of these for you

I'd highly recommend checking out Craigslist. There are people everywhere just trying to get rid of stuff that are barely used.

We were able to get a Chicco Travel System (baby carrier, base, and stroller) for $100 off of CL. They retail for close to $400 and the whole system was only used for about 7 months. As mentioned above, the travel systems are nice in that you can move the baby from car to stroller without waking her if she's sleeping. The other benefit is that the stroller can fold flat so if you have the baby somewhere and she needs a nap then you can just have her lay down in the stroller. The downside of the travel systems (or Chicco's atleast) is that the base plus car seat is HUGE in the back of a small car. I drive a STI, my wife drives a Prius. The car seat is fine in the Prius and everyone has plenty of room. In the STI you have the move the front passenger seat way up and have the seat back at almost 90 degrees for it to fit. Don't even think about putting it behind the passenger seat. My wife is about 5'4" and is able to sit in the front like that but not for long trips.

We also have a Chariot Cougar for our "active lifestyle" needs. It's not small but this thing is awesome. I think we use this more than the travel system now. The carrier can be converted from stroller, to jogger, bike trailer, hiking trailer, and x-country ski trailer. It's expensive but we've put it to good use. We've done a few 5Ks with it already and are looking forward to biking with the baby when she turns 1. Not very compact but we seem to use it more than anything else these days. Check out www.chariotcarriers.com

For people that run (and that's it) I'd say skip the travel system and build your own. Get a Graco baby carrier and base and get a Bob Revolution jogger stroller. The Bob has an adapter for the Graco carriers and will work great as an everyday stroller.

Sorry for the novel but right now the baby is my latest passion in life, even over the car. Crazy right?

If you plan on taking trips with the baby (i.e. Disneyland, airplane trips, etc), I'd also suggest getting a cheapie umbrella stroller:
http://www.amazon.com/Cosco-Umbrella...2991513&sr=8-4

They fold-up nice and compact for stowing on the plane. And they're relatively cheap enough where if they're lost in-transit, it's not too big a deal.
