take the axle out, turn it a bit, then try stabbing it in. I also use a rubber mallet and rap the shoulder of the axle over the boot to get it in. Has to be a rubber mallet or you'll cut the boot open.

They're awesome for hitting wrenches to break bolts loose. In my top five.

Be patient man. Are they the right axles for your tranny? If it is check the axles itself or the stub. Subaru's are a pain when it comes to axles, not even cars with the same years match. I ran to this issue not too long ago when doing a whole drivetrain swap. Good luck with that.

Regards,

Ron

The end of the axles has a small ring that goes around the end going Into the trans this ring can get bent sometimes If you are not careful In pushing In the axle, Pop it back out and take a look at the ring. Also try what Knock said. The axle should go In on Its own without any real pushing, If you use the rubber hammer just tap It lightly.

the ring looks fine, it kinda sticks out a bit, but so did the other one and it went in.

Honestly there shouldn't be any problems then. Check the hole in the axles where the pin goes into and see if it's punched in too much. That could be rubbing in the male end stub in the tranny.

The ring sticking out is fine just as long as it stays on there.

there isn't a roll pin for male axles, might try a little grease on the splines?
