I hadn't auto-x'd in quite a long time (usually only rally cross), but I couldn't pass up Candlestick since it tends to be a huge, fast course. I also wanted to play with my new external camera head. There's one lap from the front tow-hook, and another on the side of the door.

what did Lorry do to bump himself into STX? Not saying this is a bad thing
, just curious....

As OwlBoogie said, it was a scheduling issue. It turned out to be a good decision. The event was running slower than treacle in wintertime.

I have a question, since there's a rallycross coming up this weekend. How hard is the rally cross on the car? Does it damage anything? I really want to go.

I've heard that the track gets a little rutted, so I would expect it to be harder on the suspension than auto-x. Having said that, it isn't like stage rallying where you could trash the car if you stack. David in DS has taken his wagon to several rallycross events, but I don't know if he reads these boards.

If so, it would be doable. If you've gone to "tarmac" tuned coilovers or struts, you'll probably break something on the car first.
Also, I'd try and get a set of stock tires/wheels on your car first (i.e. you'll tear up those nice 17s and BFG KDs you have). If you need a set, I've got one that you can borrow.
And finally, you'll get the car dirty.....VERY dirty. Last time, it took me between 2 and 3 HOURS of spraying the undercarriage to get (most of) the dirt out!
On the other hand, if you have a "beater" car or go rent a car for the day (hint : Hertz will rent you a Subaru Forester
) it is a blast!

I've taken my WRX to 4 or 5 rally cross events, and I'm completely stock other than new tires that can handle offroad. My only "damage" has been paint scratches, but that's mainly because of how I drive. I have since used magnetic sign material from Kinkos to protect the paint (some picture of that are here). Your wheels may get some scratches - I bought a second stock set of wheels that I use just for rally cross. I also have a front skid plate under the engine - the stock plastic thing is useless, and I broke it at my first rally cross anyhow. The skid plate doesn't see much (if any) action at the Thunderhill events though - it mainly saves me when I'm doing other stupid things.

All of this aside, you can take it as easy as you want. Just run 40-45 psi in your tires and you're good to go. So go rally cross!
It's a lot of fun.- Skylar

Yes, stock strut and springs and stock wheels.
But I can't go. Couple of friends visiting from out of town, gotta show them around. I'll be there at round 12 though!
