Glider (Craig), thanks for the sodas man. That was soooo refreshing.

Like Kevin suggested, we need to set up a tent!

Thanks Craig. Really appreciated the sodas. Let's go ahead and bump the Round 6 thread. We should get a canopy out there figure out what we'll do about some of the other stuff.

Stopping power is basically down to tire grip. If your car will engage the ABS, then you don't need more brake; the tire is at the limit of its grip and bigger and better brakes would just get to that limit quicker.

The wrinkle is that pads and rotors have maximum friction in a particular temperature range. Once you get outside that you get fade (too hot) or just lack of friction (too cold). Fancier brakes typically push that limit up, and make it harder to get there; the pads and rotors have a higher effective max temperature, and/or the assembly is better at dissipating heat, so the brakes are less prone to heating beyond that effective range under heavy use. There's also a feel difference, but that's a different thing to actual stopping power and down to taste.

If your brakes don't fade and will engage your ABS, then your tires are the limiting factor -- and autocross runs don't tend to heat your brakes up to fading. If your brakes are fading -- more likely under track use -- then that's the time to consider all the caliper/pad/rotor upgrades.

Of course it's entirely up to you how you bling up your car

You should come on out. Probably shouldn't start next event though. It'll be a little hectic because it is the California Divisional Series. It is going to be a "national" style event. It'll be hard for us to give you a crash course since we'll be just as confused. Hehe.

Pretty much a two day event with a lot of "serious" visitors from different parts of the states, and quite possibly out-of-state visitors as well.

How much does it cost to go to this event?

you go to calipers like that to fight off heat, heat hardly exists in autox. Also the brembos weight a LOT! the rotors are heavy as well.

pads, fluid, lines, and a bracket for the master cylinder will do wonders. I even track this setup cause my car doesn't make much power, I don't need such heavy brakes for the race track. It's plenty for autox, even on my 182,000 mile brake master cylinder and booster (**** is worn!).
