Auto Body Repair
Hey guys,
so0o0o0o......I was driving on 580W earlier coming back from helping a friend move back to Livermore. All of a sudden, my driver side wheel well liner, the entire thing all the way down to the underbody of the front of my car, rips off and goes flying onto the side of the freeway. FREAKED ME OUT. I must have hit a big bump in the rode causing the wheel to slam into the liner breaking it free.
Right now, the driver side of the bumper is held in place with a zip tie (ghetto, I know, but it works for the time being) and the driver side wheel well is completely exposed. The clips that hold the front bumper in broke so I couldn't just shove the bumper back into place.
My question is, would it be cheaper for me to order a new bumper and wheel well lining and do the installation myself (assuming all the necessary tools come with the parts) or should I bring it to an autobody shop and have them do the installations for me?
Thanks for your inputs!

Hey if you find another bumper that's painted it's definitely cheaper to do yourself. The cover and lining are sold separately and come unpainted brand new. No comprehensive coverage?

I've been in your situation and still am...my front bumper has been ziptied to the fender for about a year now, and no fender liner either...I periodically make checks to make sure the harness isn't getting messed up
In my case id need to get a new bumper and fender liner cuz the tabs are messed up, no body shop going to be able to fix those without just replacing it

Matt, since you brought up the idea, I guess it would be good if I got an aftermarket front bumper since I'm in the market for a new one (just the cover at least, no actually bumper/frame damage as far as I can tell). I found one that I like from Extreme Dimensions for $175 ($285 w/ shipping and tax). Do you know if anybody has had any good experience with them or if you can recommend some other place?
