Looks like a nice WRX, but gotta remember everything in Australia is $$$. I remember hearing PS3's cost about 3 times as much as they do everywhere else and games are around $100.

 

Its not because of the conversion rate anymore. 1 U.S. dollar = 1.07828337 Australian dollars. My jiji in Gold Coast says prices for some things there are comparable to ours now.

well even though they are about 1:1 with us, there must be a worse exchange rate between the AU dollar and the yen. The Subaru austrailian site lists a base model STI msrp at $68,800!!!

and the base model WRX starts at $44,160

yea, my 1er goes for almost 100k, so it's not just the exchange rate, probably the import, tariff tax.

 

Oz has a really brutal import duty schedule, just about anything that comes in from another country is going to cost an Australian 60-100% more than it would cost in the country where it came from

 

That's what I forgot about! haha Knew there was some kind of tax or fees for imports hahahaha

WRX in thailand is $66,000 US dollars.

STI is $103,000...

 

STI in Singapore is 131,300.00 SGD = 94,065.91 USD

A lot of this has to do with tariffs and fees.
