I'm not sure, ~18k on the last build after the initial $10k, but then again I figured if I was gonna spend another $8-10k these days I might as well buy something new and provided I keep it for at least 10 years I'd then be willing to go $8k more.
So by my math then I'd say, what, $31-37k overall. For that I'm back at the just buy something new logic. If it was the right price and right vehicle I could say another $10-18k for something nice and fun.
I dunno now. I'm all confused.

To kind of rephrase the question, at what dollar amount is too much?

Well figure I used to average $5-6k/yr on just build portions with a planned build up so my estimate above whether an all-at-once or over a 4/yr like the last couple still is a good #. $18-20k.
It's QQ thankyouverymuch

For me it really depends on what I want to do with the car. Since I've gotten into AutoX, the mods on my car have been very structured and I have put a lot of research behind the parts I get. Granted this leads me to getting more expensive parts, but I am getting fewer of them. Where as before, I would just grab anything that I though was either cool or a deal.
To get my car (Maybe worth $12k) to where I want it to be. I'll probably end up dumping ~$10k into it over time. The worst part being that it will probably never make more than 150whp.
But I dislike this topic. I remember talking to apetron about how deep the pit can get. It got a little depressing.

I think I wouldn't be surprised if I spent 10k over mods if I bought the car new. I would go BBK once my pads and rotors went out, lightweight pulley for belt changes, racing clutch+light flywheel etc.
Of course, I wouldn't spend over 3k now. I'd say my money has gone pretty far from buying lightly used parts

I'm actually willing to say the sky's the limit, but my bank account says otherwise.
I really do love this car. It's great for family. Great for weekend fun and track days. It's peppy, and hauls my dogs, bikes, wife/kid, and camera gear.
When the transmission goes, she'll get a 6 spd. When the motor goes, she'll get a light and reliable 350-400whp build. She's my daily-driver after all.
