Audi TT S-Model
with the addition of the S4-S6 Line up(B6,B7 chassis) they introduced the v8 producing of 340ish HP (@ crank of course)
The RS line up is the Turbo versions of these v8 bad boys creating an astonoshing 400+ HP
Even though I think the new rs4 is still N/A but again producing the 400+ HP ..
of course for a nominal fee of 65k +
from what i know ...

nah it wasn't an RS it just had an S-badge, didn't have any plates yet, and had some "Audi Racing Performance" decals on it, so it coulda just been a rebadged TT....I didn't get a chance to hear it, so I dunno if it had a V8 or not....

"Well for 2004, Audi AG added a more potent TT to the mix - referred to as the TT S-Line - with an all new 3.2-litre VR6-derived V6 engine under the front bonnet for motivation and a cutting edge transmission. This model also stands as the first naturally aspirated TT.
S-Line Styling
The S-Line designation is working its way through the Audi model line-up, and will grace the fenders of 'special' versions of the company's cars. For 2004, the company offers S-Line versions of both the TT Roadster and TT Coupe.
In the case of the TT S-Line, all the neo-retro styling elements that make the original car so popular are still evident - art-deco interior door handles and pulls, round vents, and white-faced gauges. A longer front air dam with side vents sends cooling air to the large ABS-equipped brakes and engine bay. Subtle side skirting, a honeycomb rear bumper insert and a large tail spoiler complete the aero styling while S-Line badges sit just rear of the doors. The list of available options is short, but includes TT-exclusive 'Baseball Stitching' for the seats, navigation, an up-rated stereo with 6-disc CD stacker, HomeLink controls, and larger 19-inch alloy wheels."
good enough?

I test drove that car a while ago...it is pretty fun with the padal shifters. It actually rev-matches the downshifts for you! The shifting is quick and smooth for an automatic. It also has a sport mode that shifts the auto tranny close to redline if you don't feel like using the padals. The V6 is torquey and feels faster than the turbo 4, but the turbo motor probably has more possibility for power adders.
P.S. the TT is a chick car! My mom ended up buying one.

well there is an S-line/package meaning suspension upgrades, different steering wheel, wheels..
but there is also an "S" version much like "M" to bmw .. when the (B5) S4's came out in the late 90's, the "S4" had twin turbos (Biturbo) only producing 250 bhp but that was enough to launch this sucker to early 6 second 0-60 runs... of course awd helped. That was a fast car concidering its a German vehicle (very heavy). also with some mild mods like chipping and exhaust these things grew wings.. 150+ mph. ..
When they introduced the new body (B6, B7) THEY did away with the twin turbos and started putting the V8 engines in the 6 and 8 series Audi's..

It isn't a slushbox (denoting a trans using a fluid filled TQ) at all. DSG stands for Direct Shift Gearbox and it's actually an automated dry clutch (actually two in this case) set up similar to the bimmer SMG or Ferrari F1 allowing user selected shifts with rev matching, or full auto shifting, only better. It allows the tran to select two gears at once. Some pretty cool stuff.

the SMG is a weak design. from working knowledge with BMW's, ( i did work for them.... ) i know that the BMW SMG has more faults than San Andreas..
for one, there is a realy issue where if the relay blows ( which it will frequently do ) then the tranny is completely inoperable. gotta get the pile of scheisse towed in and have the relay replaced ( which, last i heard, is out of pocket. not a wear item ). a gentleman bought the very first M5 we had on the lot for $20k over ( according to the salesman ) and two days later its back in the shop, with tranny and cooling issues.... hmm.... one of my friends still works there, and he sees M3's with the SMG realy blown all the time ( at least twice a week ) hmm......
the electrohydraulic Ferrari F1 box is extremely hard on its clutch(es) in stop/go traffic, where a car will spend the majority of its time.... hmm....
at least the DSG isnt hard on its clutches, but its still a new design, so we'll see what kinda flaws it will have.
people need to quit *****footing around it and learn how to use a clutch
