attention cobb exhaust owners

Am I the only one that thinks the cobb cbe sounds somewhat like stock at WOT in the cabin?

like the cobb! hahah

When I took out the stock system, I had just the downpipe sitting there, so I thought I would turn on the car and hear what it sounds like with just no catback. It was LOUD and nice haha, but too loud for DD. However, it was fun revving lol. Maybe it was the transition from no catback to a cobb catback that made the cobb seem almost like stock.

Probably. Went I went from the invidia n1 to the blitz nur spec r, it was great sounding but horribly loud and droned. Then I went back to the invidia and it sounded like relaxtion! lol

my only complaint is that the cobb lacks the low end rumble (by that I mean low end bass frequency, not low end of the RPM range)

I was with you on that a few hours ago. Have you tried listening to your exhaust with all 4 windows rolled down all the way? I had a friend drive the car for me while I stood on the street and listened. There was enough low end rumble from the outside, I was pleased haha.

You should check out aps exhaust then haha. It's basically like the cobb unit(same looks too), but louder with more bass.

Yeah, sometimes I drive with my back two windows down, it sounds a lot different.

Well whatever your complaint with yoru cobb is, it has to be better than my spt. I do enjoy the sound of my spt, just enough rumble to to keep the wife out of the car, and my son has become accustomed to it, its all he has known his whole life.

However it has almost no low bass sound, the expected boxer rumble, except for when it is warming up. Some reason after it hits operating temp, it quiets down. Although at WOT i have no complaints, even had compliments @ EQ's track day. I would like something that sounds the same when driving WOT with a bit more low bass sound when i am not... I was thinking about COBB, but this thread makes me think twice...

Are you saying the Cobb is as quiet as the stock WRX/STi exhaust at WOT? Because it is nowhere near it IMO.

The best thing about the Cobb catted full turbo back, 88 db at wide open throttle. No sound issues at Laguna Seca. My opinion is that it sounds stock down low, but pretty mean at wide open throttle.

I feel like there is some ambiguity here because some people are comparing tone, while others compare volume. I don't think the Cobb is too much louder, but it certainly sounds far different from stock. So to directly answer the OP's question - no, the Cobb sounds entirely different (than stock) to me, although not strikingly louder.

I also wanted to point out that I noticed a greater volume difference when going from stock DP to Cobb catted DP, than I did going from stock UP to catless GS UP.

What I meant up there is, my opinion has now changed after listening to the cobb with the windows all down and listening to it as an "outsider". It deff has more bass and volume to it. But to me, when I sit in the car with windows all rolled up, pass through closed, it is a lot more quiet. And I like that because if I don't want to hear the exhaust during my daily commute I just close everything up. If I want to hear the exhaust, I just roll windows down and its nice and loud for me.

I guess the main reason why I started this thread is because I still had the sound of no exhaust after the stock downpipe in my head. Now that was LOUD. lol.

For those who are thinking of getting a cobb exhaust, I think it's best to just hear it in person. After hearing my cobb from outside the car while having my friend drive it, I felt no regret in getting the cobb exhaust.
