Athlete of the decade? Who do you think should take the title?

As it's being discussed in the world of sports, people voted for Tiger Woods (this is totally unrelated to his recent escape), and I really can't imagine how he's a better athlete then Lance Armstrong or someone of his caliber...

What do you guys think? Who should take the athlete of the decade title?

I'd say Ray Lewis. Most dominant linebacker ever to play the game, multiple MVP titles, leads the NFL in tackles, Pro-Bowl selection every year he's played, won the Super Bowl. Dudes a beast.

Agreed.

Although, to Tiger's credit, there has NEVER been anyone like him in Golf.

Was MJ the Athlete of the decade for the 90s? He better be...

Yeah, but there has never been anyone like Lance in the world of cycling either. Lance is a total douche in real life but he deserves more respect (in this regard) then Tiger... What requires more athleticism, Tour De France, Golf?

Lebron - most dominant player in the NBA, and he's only 24.

F1

Micheal Schumacher has dominated the first part of the 2000s, and if he had dominated the whole thing he'd probably be it. For many years he was the top paid athlete and was only outdone by Tiger because MSC retired at the end of 2006 season, and stopped making 100mil/year.

F1 is insane. Those guys are more fit than most other athletes. Perhaps only MMA fighters are more fit, and probably, some of the most fit of all athletes ever.

Lance is awesome, but not cause of his cycling... cause he's banging Twain with that one nut. Oh, and overcoming cancer... of course

As much as I hate Kobe, I feel Kobe has done much more this decade than LeBron.

You know, every sport has their specifics. It's really really hard to compare one sport to another. A specialist is a specialist. Lance can't drive to 7 F1 WCs, and Schumey can't cycle to 7 TDFs.

You have have to look at the impact of that athlete to a sport, and domination is only one part of it. If an athlete can turn a sport around or make it more popular, or flip it upside down and change the way we think about it, that that carries weight.

Lance I feel is an exceptional athlete. But I don't see cycling growing due to him alone, and now dying with his mostly absence.

Tiger is taken a rich persons sport and helped make it a sport anyone can enjoy and play. I'm always surprised when I find out someone I know is an avid golfer... Like people I'd NEVER EVER think golfed regularly, golf. It's crazy!

I think the forums are lacking in golf fans. To put it simply, Tiger Woods has been the most dominate athlete in golfs history. No one has won as much as him in as short of time as he has. No one is even close to his win record.

Winning 14 major championships
PGA Player of the Year 10 times
PGA Tour Player of the Year 9 times
PGA Tour Money Leader 9 times
Vardon Trophy 8 times
Byron Nelson Award 9 times
FedEx Cup Champion 2007, 2009.

Not to mention his 2000 US open championship when he won by 15 strokes.. 15!!

IMO the only one even in the same category of his dominance was Roger Federer or Michael Schumacher.

All that being said Tiger's reputation will never be the same after this crap. I have definitely lost a lot of respect for him.

i would say Micheal Schumacher, but if it's about major impact to the sport then it's gotta be Tiger Woods.
