If you want the best of the best, you would wanna rock the HKS twin scroll turbo which is available in Japan only. I can get it and I am also looking for pricing. It is expensive though. However, GT HKS turbines are the best you can get. From the regular IHI family of turbo's VF42 would make the most power for you.

That is up to your car's setup and tuning. This is a very capable kit. Every part of it is an "upgrade". So more power is not a question. Its a question of how much and I don't want to guess.

With a vf42, my exhaust (HKS Carbon Ti), Downpipe, ECUTek, injectors/Pump, and FMIC is 360whp within reach?

nope.

I think in order to get a 2.0L motor to that much power you need AVCS head, forged internals, and which ever twin scroll will pump the most CFM to PSI.

There is no replacement for displacement.
Good luck.

Seriously Alex, hook a white boy up.

He has an STi, dude...

And, $%^# forged internals. Yeah, I said it. Built motors suck. 9/10 people with built motors spend 99% of their time trying to fix them. Subaru motors were not meant to be "built". Too many things can go wrong.

woops, for some reason I thought he was talking about a 2.0L. my bad.

And don't the JDM motors have forged internals? I guess those are not really 'built' though, they just have nice insides from the factory.

I am still on the lookout for a crashed STI so I can get the motor/tranny/brakes in one swoop.

But a twin scroll setup is tempting.

Factory motors = good. (with whatever components they come with)
Built motors = waste of money.

whats the difference between the vf36,37,42? Is it just size and how much air it can flow?

do you think the full potential of this kit can be relized with a usdm wrx motor or is it going to be limited due to the limits of the usdm motor?

The 42 is the newest from the S204, and has the best flow (VERY expensive right now I think). No idea about the spool though.
The 36 is the previous Spec-C Turbo and is a little better than the 37, and the 37 is the regular twin scroll from various models.
