not to jinx you, but i wouldn't be too confident about the stealthiness of that RS*R.

besides listening for loud, booming or fart can exhaust notes, the next biggest thing that cops look for are big exhaust tips & non-stock looking mufflers (i.e.--N1 angled & cylinder ones).

your RS*R's can is pretty stock looking, but the tip is pretty dang big. plus, doesn't it have a RS*R logo embossed onto the side of the tip or did they stop doing that?

uppipe, downpipe and race/catted midpipes are all done.

it's just the cat back that is lagging

got pulled over in june of 06 and written up for the exhaust. well, i'm not saying that its entirely stealthy. but, i am very positive that it's more stealthy than those angled exhausts with 120mm tips.

stock sti exhaust tip is 60mm, rsr tip is 80mm, so its a tad bit bigger. yea it does that the rsr logo and i liked it. i don't mind that it doesn't completely look stock, but comes close with an aftermarket flair.

oh to conclude, i passed the state ref db test with the rsr ex-mag (stock dp). 94.9db @ 4500RPM.

heh, well incase you werent aware, STIs with stock exhausts get pulled over and ticketed for modified exhaust more often than you would imagine, so dont put too much weight on the notion that finding an exhaust that looks close to the stock STI one is going to keep you out of trouble

thanks for the heads up, but i know a lot of sti owners that get pulled over with their stock exhausts! silly cops don't believe its stock.

to be clear, i'm not saying stock mufflers keep you out of trouble. for me, its a preference that i like the car not veering away much from the stock appearance.

^^^^beat me to it.

to expand a little bit more on that, there are cops out there that don't even give a crap if you have legal mods w/CARB E.O. #'s for each and every part. they'll just write you up for whatever they feel like and "let you sort it out w/the judge." again, some write people up for stock parts too just to punish dudes for mouthing off or being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

there's not much you can do if you run across a cop that's having a bad day or on a vendetta. but you want to minimize the chances of attracting the other more normal cops out there & avoid giving them the opportunity to go citation crazy on you & your ride. best way you can do that is by....

1. not driving like a dumba$#
2. keep your ride as inconspicuous looking & sounding as possible

btw, that RS*R exhaust is pretty nice. i've liked their stuff ever since Racing Beat down in SoCal first started bringing their products in. their red & white RS*R stickers are pretty cool too, but too bad they'd be like putting bullseyes on your car. lol
