This. You can tell by the shape of the patch. Looks like a drop.
No idea where that'd come from however

Do you do laundry with pure bleach in your garage too?

Almost looks like a hard water spot too, kind of hard to tell. Try a solution of 50/50 vinegar and distilled water and see if it comes up. Did you try any MILD polish or cleaner on it?

particularly nasty bird crap sitting there for 3 weeks could actually damage the paint that bad.

+1 I ****ed up my scoop recently and the bird **** won't come out with a carwash. The detailer said clay bar will take care of it tho. You can still see the ring of bird ****. It was there for 2 weeks baking onto the black car lol.

Clay will not remove a defect like a bird crap burn IMO.

Can you get any closer macro shots of the affected area? Showing the texture or reflection off the surface of the spot of defect. Does it feel raised or dipped?

It can be either acidic etching or, most likely a very hard water spot stain as it is all white and looks to have outter rim build up of mineral deposits. I am not entirely sure of the PH level of water and how hard the water is in Napa (as that is what your info states).

If you move your finger over it and it feels matte/rough and raised, it most likely is a hard water spot with rich mineral deposits.

Try goo gone and clay first as it won't harm the paint.

It's probably bird poop that burned through the clear. Always remove bird poop ASAP
