There's a sticky at the top of the page. The hook up is they're less than the dealership and do better work.

Just to install the motor? I believe Fine Line Imports charges 1,650 dollars to install the motor.

Not just the install. They have to pull the old motor, tear it all down, rebuild it around the new shortblock, tthen reinstall. So yyeah, quite a bit more work than a straight swap.

Ps, sry tried to reply and edited you post instead, damn android whell:

Exactly. Then add fluids, gaskets, spark plugs, etc.

Ed, do you sell short block?

Or do customers usually bring in their own?

Go talk to Kevin at AutoHQ. If you call the shop and he doesnt answer, just leave a message. Lots of telemarketers and advertisers these days lol. He'll get back to you.

We build a lot of blocks. Most of the cars in the shop are engine builds.

Thanks

To me, my engine has been running the same way the day I bought it. You remember the ticking sound you mentioned to me before? It bothers me and am suspecting a rod knock. Couldn't tell yet because I haven't run a compression/leakdown test.

So, I am getting more information on how much it would cost to get a short block and swap it, or rebuild the engine? Thanks for your concern !

If cost is too much, I'll just sell the car -.- But hey, at least someone here will be able to get the 5x100 gold BBS from me. haha

Which are usually the more cost effective way .. rebuild or new short block?

Or is it too much variables to tell unless you take the current motor apart?

It depends on the condition of the block.

If you need to re-align the mains then it is more cost efficient to replace the block on a Subaru.
