A few people have asked me to prepare and powder coat some WRX struts for Koni inserts and I am trying to match up some powder coat samples to pick the closest color shade to the factory STI pink struts.

I've got a few colors narrowed down from internet pics, but I want to see the real thing since photos look different than real-life sometimes.

If you have a set I can look at in the South Bay (San Jose area) or within a reasonable distance, please let me know.

Aren't the STi struts red? I don't think I have ever seen OEM pink struts. Springs yes, struts no. I could be wrong.

 

 

Yeah...I dunno. That's why I need to check in real-life. Pics I've seen range from red to pink.

 

I don't think there are OEM pink struts. There are some subaru upgrade pink struts...like the coil overs and what not.


The red is usually the stock color. I have v7 spec C struts that are red.....

I'd say the best place to pull that pink....where you can clean it up and get a good look at it is gonna be a rear sway bar or some trailing arms. I know there are a few of those around. Maybe drop by a shop that has some in stock.


If you do it....let me know. I am thinking of doing the koni upgrade and I want pink or red.

 

 

OK, thanks for the info. Whichever JDM struts that came in pink or red is what I am after. The person who wants this done has an STI and would prefer the Koni struts to look like an OEM cherry blossom color.

I'm definitely going to get the powder...once I have it nailed down, I'll post the RAL number.

 

I have a set of the v7 spec C struts sitting in my garage. You're more than welcome to borrow one for a while if you like. I don't know what I'm doing with them yet.

the last picture you have there are the spec C struts...that's what mine look like.

the expensive sti coil overs are pink. The STI adjustable struts are pink, I think that is what those little pictures are. Above that just looks like sti suspension, look pinker because of flash.

 

The one I linked are the SPEC C's also.

you sure...they look like the adjustable v7 wagon struts maybe? or the adjustable sti struts.

mine are red.....those are pink as hell. and mine aren't adjustable. You should hookd Demo up with one of those so he can show it to his guy.....have the two colors to work with.

 

Sorry, my bad. Just looked and they are the V-Limited OEM's off of my buddies '04 STi.

 

S202 were a gray/black, Spec C are a red, Stock WRX black. I've never seen pink from OEM. WTF would you want a pink strut anyway? Different strokes different folks. I'm out.
FWIW the color on the Spec C pic above looks spot on to what I have seen.

 

ok mr. pink springs....

 

They match my underwear. FWIW I bought the pinks for function not form. They could have been green for all I care. Any foo who buys a spring for it's color is a moron.
