thanks a bunch, so this deal is that the car came from united states, went to the UK then the lady got the car in a divorce and wants to sell it to my friend for 7,000 dollars
it all sounds shady to me for an 03 sti
and he has to pay 2000 dollars shipping.

I agree...scamish..big time. I've experienced the scam first hand (but in reverse) when I was selling my previous car. A potential buyer in "Europe" was very interested my car because of it's "rarity". They would be willing to pay $3000 over KBB and would pay to have it shipped out. They would send a check (fake) for the above amount and I would ship the car out. They even listed a name...so I Googled the name and over 100 leads came up...all consumer alerts..."be aware of John Doe so and so" and what not. Maybe this car is the result of someone in Washington actually falling for the scam (e.g: sent the STi to Europe, got a check, and two weeks later found that the check was bogus...minus 1, '04 STi)...or maybe not...I would forget about it.
