I don't have a college degree. I doubt I'll see 6 figs anytime soon.
If I ever get to getting a degree I think I could see about $120k realistically within a couple years.

I'm on the cusp of 6 figs and do love my job in computer graphics.
However, what happens as your salary increases, so do your expenses. I don't feel like I have anymore disposable income than when I was making $35k. That was when I was living at home and single. Now, I've got 2 kids and a house and all the other expenses that go along with it.
Moral of the story: If you wanna have lots of money to spend however you like...don't have kids. (They will give you much joy, though)
My theory on the whole money thing is this. People get used to whatever station in life they are at real quick. Being a millionaire is great but you get used to it and start wishing you were a billionaire.
This guy I know is like that with cars. He started out middle class with an cherry RX-3. His dad made it big in the Aerosol Can business so he moved up to a corvette(early 90's crappy one). He soon tired of that and bought a 300zx and modded it up to around 400whp which was insane for the mid 90s. He then started working for HKS and his crazy-*** z wasn't enough. He bought the HKS Supra showcar with around 500whp. And so on and so on, he's now looking at a Lambo Gallardo.

Damn, I'm poor. I don't know if I'll ever get to the 6-figure range. My best friend make six figures (real estate) he likes his job. My other friend is in the 7-figure club (database security stuff). I'm the poor friend..heh.

It's been fun to order 4x Cisco 6500 switches and use every inch of their capabilities as well as cruise around in countless secure datacenters. However, I agree with Mike - finding something you enjoy doing is far more rewarding than a 6 figure IT job. I am leaving all this for an uncertain future on an island.

I am a "Stock Promoter" for lack of a term that people can understand. I absolutely love my job and can't imagine doing anything but this.

I'm a Senior Systems Admin specializing in semiconductor testers, data collection, and databases and broke into 6 figures on my last promotion(2 years ago). I don't really "like" my job persay, but I do like my power and ability to do what ever the hell I want and choose my own hours which is usually very few lol. Downsides are stupid users, too much travel, being on call, oh and did I mention having MORONS for users?

too much travel... what, do they make you use the company car? a 2 door sub compact????
lol...
dealing with moronic users... well you learn to live with that. ALMOST kinda like a cop putting on a vest everyshift knowing that they may get shot.
how's the on-call situation. are you 24/7 on-call?

i don't make six figures but am happy at where i am. i still have money to pay bills, take a vacation every now and then, buy myself things, etc...
another upside to my job is flexibility, commute, great coworkers, etc...i have plenty of friends and family in the 6 figure salary that hate their jobs. after hearing their stories, and seeing their stress i think i'll stay right where i am.
