I've had my conversion in my 00 RS for over 3 years now (No issues from the install). Mine was the second one Adam helped on, his was the first (this was way before I-speed /LIC) I did most of the work myself, but Adam gave a hand in splitting the wire loom, but I was left with the actual trace and wire. That's why mine is wired different then how Adam runs it.

I concur, if you want the best advice on the swap, go to Adam at Lic, he's done so many now he could probably do it in his sleep......if the dude ever gets any sleep that is (He's always at his shop ;-)

Cheers

I think Jeff (stg2lgcy) was getting a swap done. He bought a WRX motor from some member on this board a few weeks ago and was supposed to get it swapped in soon after that.

Seriously. Someday, though where I am going I will have to do it myself. I would kill for a full '05 WRX swap in my car. If there were someone who could sell the wiring, and I could just do all the wrenching - that would be a killer start.

Cal, your's is the 2nd swap I did, right after mine.

Eddy actually started his way before I did, but he got a Bad motor and the harness had been cut out of the car. At the time the yards didn't realize that we need the harnesses complete and uncut. I think he dealt with his for months, meanwhile I blew up my turbo 2.5 motor at Laguna Seca in December. Finally, after going back and forth, what to do for a motor, my brother loaned me $6,000 to buy the WRX motor/conversion parts. Fortunately, this car had been broadsided or rolled or something, so the motor was perfect and only had 437 miles on it. So, I studied the diagrams for both cars, Alex(imprezer) supplied the WRX ones. I labled both harnesses, cut n' soldered them together the way I thought was best. Mine and Calvin's were done the same, all the rest are done differently. After mine was near completion, I went up to Eddy's and broke down his harness and explained to him how I had wired mine.

Anyways, that's enough story time, I'm gonna get back to work on Conversion #19

Adam,
Have you guys ever thought of making/selling conversion videos/instructions?

Adam actually helped me a lot on my conversion. Twice in fact. Wiring is something that only the brave or insane should do. I don't know how many times I looked at the hundreds of wires splayed over the floor of the car and think "how the hell I was going to get this done" But I was able to do it.

Yea it sucked having a broken motor without knowing it.....I spent a whole month going over every wire thinking that I soldered one wrong, causing the motor to run wrong....of course I asumed that the engine was good.....of course a compression test proved that wrong.

Cal, Adam did yours 2nd, but mine was the 2nd one he worked on, right before he started on yours. I did most of the work, but had A LOT of help from Adam. You can put # 2 on yours.....I kind of think of mine as an R&D or the I-Speed Guinny Pig!

Would I do it again......probably....in fact I am considering doing it to my wagon....now that it was totaled.....thinking of doing a FULL Rally conversion next

Cheers

I actually don't have the motor yet but thought I would. The compression test was low in #2 so after it gets fixed I'll pick it up. In the meantime I'm just saving up for the labor cost as I already have every other part needed for the swap.
