trust me when I say that snow is much much better than twigs and leaves.

I love the outdoors... do a trip about once a year. Started off with overnighters to half-dome... hiked up in old vans and no tent way back when I was a poor student. Loved it and bought a backpack and boots and did trips around Tuolumne Meadows (Tenaya Lake, Clouds Rest, Vogelsang, Hoffman, etc... been doing bigger treks/climbs lately.

A couple years ago did 3 days on Whitney towards the end of winter. Soooo fun glissading down the chute. Wanna bring the snowboard next time. Did a 2 day climb on Shasta, 9 days in Annapurna Sanctuary (Nepal/Tibet) and 8 days to climb Kilimanjaro (19,500' in Tanzania).

Next big one on the list is Aconcagua (22,800') in Argentina. 20+ day climb, maybe next December. Gotta start saving vacation days for that one!

I've heard great things about Emigrant... we're so lucky to have the Sierras in our backyard!

holy crap...I'd say that bigger treks....is an understatement. You're doing some serious climbs.

My biggest peak is....sheesh...probably Ritter and Banner...both in one day though. Some awesome views though> I have a picture looking down at 1000 lakes and the what not. Did the minarets. Swam in iceberg lake.

Shasta has some good climbs..where did you go up?

I really would love to go overseas and do a climb and snowboard deal. But I'm a long way off with my fitness these days and rusty with my skills. Maybe 7 years ago. Maybe in another few years.

Good luck on Aconcagua. I hear it's an amazing climb with some spectacular views.

I haven't done that one before, but my good friends have. They say it's great up there. Good places to set up camp etc.... To bad the waters too cold to swim in though

bah....too cold....bah. I've swam in snow runoff. Shoot I jumped off a huge rock into it. once you get a bit used to it it feels awesome. But maybe it had something to do with not having dioderant, showers, toilet paper, etc. for 3 weeks. Water is water at that point..haa.
