Just wondering if any other ballers are playing in the DRAKES Basketball Tournament in SF this weekend? (Sat & Sun)

There's a few divisions. Upper (GOLD) is at CCSF and lower (Silver & Bronze) are at Lowell High.

I'll be in the Silver division, and our team name is "The Franchise." :banana: (wanted "Old School" or "OG's Fo' Life," but got outnumbered. buddies are in denial!) Our first game is @ 11:30am vs "El Segundo." (guys from SoCal, I guess)

Well, hope to see a few of you there.

as a Sac fan, you might find consolation in knowing that my team and I got our a$#es handed to us in both games today!? I won't divulge the final scores, but let's just say we got CREAMED and run off the court both games by some young'ns!

It was really sad for my team collectively and personally for myself.....got crossed up BAD in the first game by the opposing PG. I didn't fall or get my ankles broke, but dude did me like AI on Jordan during Iverson's rookie year!

In the second game, I stole the ball as the other team was trying to fast break and was one on one w/the other team's PF. I should've taken it to the rack but casually pulled up for a trey, and he SPIKED the *ish out of it!!

I knew it was gonna be ugly, since our team has waaay too many guards/shooters and not enough bangers. Plus, this was our first go as a team, and it showed! We're in the "Friendship Game," which is basically like the Miss Congeniality prize in a beauty pageant....for LOSERS!!

Anyways, came home early tonight to rest up and try to redeem ourselves/MYSELF and save some face. Dang young'ns are gonna get it tomorrow!!

 

how come ive never heard of this, any website? what is it, and its at the lowell basketball courts? i might just go check it out tomorrow, i love basketball. but sucks since im only 5'4..still good though =P

 

the DRAKES tournament is pretty old and is held every year I think. It's a "real tournament w/scoretable & board, benches, refs, and everything. It was in the Lowell gym, which suprisingly STILL hasn't been remodeled since I graduated waaaay back in the day!

i think there is a Drakes website but am too depressed and tired to look for the address. Try doing a search or I'll post it up in a day or two after the tournament ends tomorrow.

You should check it out tomrrow (Sun) if you're free. Our game, the "Friendship" aka LOSERS one, is @ 9am!? The playoff/championship ones are after that (not sure what time...probably 11am or 12pm).

btw, there was A LOT of other people/kids on campus today taking SAT's, attending some sort of Japanese performance in the auditorium, and a bunch of people playing ball outside.....weird, Lowell used to be a ghost town on weekends when I went there!

well, gotta get some ZZZZZ's. I'm gonna go into "black hole" mode tomorrow.....any passes/basketballs coming my way AREN'T going back out to anyone else!

 

lol. yeah freaking sats were yesterday, and i go to lowell myself, and u know..the lowell gym SUCKS..i had a basketball class in it for a semester..dusty as hell..ud slip and slide all over the place..in basketball..u really need traction..u cant do the things u do without some grip.
