Anyone else get "violated" by Uncle Sam?
I feel like I dropped the soap in prison....
Just e-filed, owing almost $4,000. Who says the rich get all the tax breaks!!!
Jebus...we paid enough in tax last year to buy an SRT4. And we still can't afford a decent house in this area.
Anyway...thus ends my rant.
[sidenote: I recommend www.hrblock.com wholeheartedly. If you have all your paperwork, it rules. I didn't need to stand up to complete my federal/state returns, e-file them, and pay with an electronic check. If you might use then, use this link:

...which will save you $10, and will get me $5. I'll buy you all pizza or something.]

I have no deductions, and I didn't have enough taken out of my checks. Pretty simple.
And a real accountant will cost a hell of a lot more than $44, and I couldn't go to their office drinking a beer in my underwear!

how come you ended up owing almost $4,000!! That sucks big time, I own $650 to the Feds and about $220 to State. It sucks but as other have mentioned before I look at it as an intrest free loan from the government. After talking to the company accountant he says that getting a refund is nice, but one cann't get outta of the tax they have to pay. If you get a refund it just means you gave the government an intrest free loan. If you are rich I would assume it is a different story, I'm not rich (at least not yet) so I cann't see how that story ends.

edgar,
here is a little secret. it's better to owe when filing. that means either you made a crap load of money or the man didn't screw you all year long.
as for the real accountant comment. sorry dude the tax laws are what they are. those accountants do not represent you when you are audited. they could care less they already made their money. I know people who claim single and head of house hold when they are married because some accountant would do it for them and someone in their family did it before.
it's a big gamble, if you get caught be prepared to pay big. I believe that they will start looking at taxes more because of the economy and W's big spending.
