Anyone drink/use Kava?

I first heard about this stuff a few days ago on the news when some guy got a DUI for drinking too much kava tea!

I have been looking it up and it appears to be sold be various stores in the US (supposedly GNC sells it), but the stuff isn't very strong. Basically it sounds like you need to take > 15 pills to get anykind of an effect. it is supposed to produce a very relaxing, slightly euphoric feeling.

The best stuff is sold from hawaii and some asian countries that I cant remember the names of.

Well I like tea so I want to try some of this "strong" kava tea, anybody got any idea of where I should look? Most online distributors sell it in a powder form, which I assume is for eating?
Anybody have any expiriences with Kava?

you could buy the weak tea and distill it...use a **** load of tea bags in a lot of water...then start boiling off the water until it's ultra strong...

Genuine kava from Hawai'i will get you high. It's supposed to be consumed in liquid form; traditionally, the root is ground/mashed into a paste or powder, then water is added. There's a report now that it's not so healthy though.

You should ask the HIIC guys. They might have better info on it than us here

GNC used to sell GHB as well, until people figured out that it had alternative uses.

Went to a Kava bar... It really does taste like dirt. It's a trippy/dirty kind of little buzz and then you're down. Wasn't my cup of tea. <-- haha

That must've been my co-worker at FedEx. They fired him for that. It happened about 4 years ago.

at whole foods you can get the liquid super strong kind, then drink like 20 drops and feel good.

My family is from the Fiji Islands so I have been around Kava my whole life. The way its used is that its a root that is smashed up into powder.
From powder it is strained into a thin cloth with water being poured slowly over the cloth. That is where the kava drink comes from.
It is considered a downer and yes it does taste like mud the first 2-4 times you drink it. But when you drink more, your tongue gets numb and so does your body. My uncles drink this stuff daily and and have tons of this stuff, its considered a natural high for them. The pill is nothing compared to the real thing. It was not considered a drug before but I guess times change.

The guy who was on the news got the DUI within the last few weeks, but there has been alteast 5 cases of it within the states. Atleast that was what I found out searching the web. I do believe one of them involved a driver of some kind who got arrested for a DUI, and fired, but charges were never filed against him. He ended up suing the company he worked for, citing wrongful termination. Don't know if that's your ex buddy. It seems like there's no precedent for this kind of thing, so the D.A. has treaded lightly in the past. It'll be interesting to see if anything happens with this case.

So the general consesus seems to be that it tastes like dirt and is a downer! Makes sense, nobody on the sites I looked at commented on the taste, lol.

I don't really mind it being a downer, it's not like i'm going to drink kava tea to start off my morning. It would be more like a nightime relaxing go to bed kind of thing. Well I guess I have to try it for myself, I just hope I don't get headaches and bowel problems like some people have said .
