Feel these get a bit invasive, but good for learning if you are absolutely, completely new, and hold your hands through.
A fine line between setting up cones everywhere to ensure you to go the right line vs showing you and letting you figure it out.

Also lots of fun tracks in socal

I'll be at Laguna on the 3rd with city tech and Thunderhill on the 9th with GDS!
hook me up with a free day, kkty

+1 for NCRC also!
I've only done Thunderhill, and Sonoma. Love 'em both. Longer straights at T-Hill, but I found Sonoma to be more challenging/fun.

I also can recommend Hooked on Driving (HOD)
especially if you're new to track days.
Great instruction (They paired me with coaches who drove AWD cars - STi, and Audi) and they're very conservative and safety conscious.
Once you get solo certified, then you can go with just about any club and be comfortable.

I attended the sessions yesterday at Laguna. It was the best experience ever. My friend and I had a lot of fun out there, and teh instructors can really teach you how to push the limits. I didn't the limits of my car until yesterday, and even then, I don't think it was the real limit. With certain upgrades here and there it can easily be driven another 25%. Definitely worth the 220$. I also had the pleasure of trying a full tank of100 octane gas for the first time, and frankly, it did make a difference. driving in S# with TC off I could feel power delivery was smooth, and punchy. I'm not tuned for it; completely stock engine except a foam intake filter. That being said, I don't think ill fill it again, because it cost me 100$ at the track lol. most of the time i drive in S or I mode and granny shift haha.

go out there and play!

btw, nice meeting you Mark! and who was that white 4 door WRX out there? the one that went off?

Would stop tech pads get cooked at laguna? Just wondering if i should just buy a pair for the fronts for track days.

I think the stoptechs would be just fine. make sure you swap out the brake fluid too. after my first session my brakes were smoking, but i think it was just burning off the deposits on the rotors since ive never run them that hard before. i also flushed and swapped over to super blue for brake fluid. at the end of the day my pedal was a little mushy, but thats expected. after cool down brake feel returned to normal.

hmm depending on how aggressive you drive, any street pads has a great possibility of getting cooked. Especially from those high speed downhill braking points.

For break in of pads it usually smokes, on that note, I have a set of ds2500 you can use

The stop techs are fairly new but they have gone through last seasons autox at marina/dd. Price/miles on those ds25000's?
