Work off 237 by mcarthy, wondering if anyone makes the drive from palo alto and how bad it is? Trying to shorten my commute.

It's not that bad. But then I always leave palo alto going to Zanker or First Street between 9 and 11, and I've found that if I leave work between 5:30-6:30 it's bad, but if I leave around 5, or after 7 it's pretty good.

WC - Walnut Creek?

Palo Alto will be way faster than Walnut Creek. Obviously it depends a bit where in Palo Alto. For example, if you were up on the border of Menlo Park on the 280 side, you are probably 10-15 mins further away than if you are toward San Antonio Road/Mountain View Border on the 101 side.

[EDIT]
w.r.t how long, I commute the opposite way from Willow Glen (south of SJ center) to Palo Alto Page Mill Rd. On my mc or out of commute, it takes around 23 mins. If traffic is bad, it can go up to 45 minutes. Bear in mind, I'm going with commute through 880/280/17 intersection, and the 85/280 intersection, both of which are bottle necks.

I'm guessing you would be < 30 mins most of the time.
[/EDIT]

haha i got a pair from 76. I've purchased about 6 pairs from gas stations minimum b/c once I get to work, and start looking @ 2 lcd's or more and an hd reference monitor all day, while photograhing with bright *** lights. I can't see a thing by mid day, my eyes burn and it sucks ***. So i buy tons of pairs, lost my oakleys unfortunately.

more than 30 min? lol.

For reference I moved from San Ramon to Palo alto, same commute.

SR -> McCarthy: 40 driving minutes (so an hour from WC sounds decent), but once a week there'd be an accident and it would take over an hour.

Palo alto -> McCarthy: I'm sitting in my office chair in 15-20 minutes. This includes the time talksing from my house to my car, and from my car up three flights of stairs and getting coffee.

However Rivermark on Montague, and North Park on First Street and Tasman, are the closest you can get. Around $1300-1400/month for a single, $2000-2200 for a 2bd

takes me 40-45 mins from woodside around skyline blvd/woodside rd (84) intersection to work on mathilda /237 exit. If I didnt live on the mountain it would take 30 mins. I leave around 8:45-9am, come back around 7pm. take 280-S to 85-N to 237-E to work; and take the 101N to Oregon expwy to 280N on the way back.

It never takes more than 45 mins either way even in the worst traffic, b/c you can alway go sidestreets like 101-N to old middlfield rd. if the 101 N is bad on the way back.

Yeah, if you're living on the west bay, location is key. North of 85 there's no good way to get between 101 and 280. So if you have to traverse Woodside, or Oregon expressway during rush hour you are F'd.

I happen to live right off the freeway so going to work is no problem, but I once tried to go to Palo alto Fry's during morning rush hour and took almost 30 minutes to travel like 2 miles from 101 to El camino. Ridiculous
