Anybody run the Calaveras Rd to Felter Rd loop from Sunol to Milpitas?
My friend ran me through here in his Golf the other night. I hadn't been out there in 15 years.
Take Calaveras off 680 in Sunol and head east. You'll pass the regional park on your left. Soon the road will get tighter and soon it will be one lane. Really tight. Follow it all the way to the stop sign in rural Milpitas and then make a left. Follow this road (Felter) all the way to the fork and take the right fork. Again it goes to one lane and it will get twisty. At night you'll have a view of the entire Silicon Valley below. Eventually you'll end up near Capitol Ave in San Jose and you can catch 680.

yep calaveras is fun road that i enjoy driving after work alot. I normally go from calaveras onto sierra and go until the one lane section then turn around and drive it downhill back towards spring valley golf course where i work. Fun little drive.

I use to go up there all the time. Becareful though. Make sure your car is in good working order!!! My friend brought his 240 friends up there and their cars broke down due to some engine problems. They ended up walking a few miles and such in the dark. If you do go make sure you go at night. I think its best at least to go at night cause you could see headlights from incoming drivers. Never go by yourself cause its scary as hell. I have my friends still bugging me to go after work so if anyone wants people to go up there I could find you someone. er.. My brother told me that they've been having more cops up there then they usually do. Its either that or Sierra Rd, but I think it was Sierra.
If you guys go up there, might as well see Marsh Road for you first timers. :P

I used to take my old integra there all teh time. My buddy would take his supra too. I'd tear that road up like once a week at night. Been awhile though, they also repaved it a year or so ago.
Last time i went up, i saw an ambulance, cops, firetruck and a tow truck with a winch and 3-4 people looking off the cliff. o_0
It's funny cause they probably heard me coming a few miles away......and heard me blast away once I passed them.
Great road...you can see pretty far ahead at night as long as people use thier headlights.

Yeah that road is full of bikes durring the day. I drove it once and after about 2 miles decided to take it easy because of all the blind corners. My buddy a head just went for it... Well surprizingly he didn't hit any bikes but two almost hit me. They come around the blind corners in the other lane, umm well on my side of the road, DUMBBB. Any way i hear night is much better.

GREAT! i didn't want to mention this at all cuz i AM a biker. there are A LOT of us bikers (and horseback riders) up there training...there are also a lot of blind corners. wanna find me every tues/thur after work...that's where i'll be...grinding it up the hill on my gary fisher.
bottom line is don't do it...you'll end up taking out a few bikers on one of those turns. if i see a suby up there speeding wrecklessly, you can be sure i'll post the license plate # and a good review on what not to do.

That'd be a fun road to race on if we could get the road closed.
Edit..No amateurs allowed though... because there are plenty of deadly dropoffs and trees!
