I was just about to move to Austin... was going to do a road trip in 2 weeks to house-hunt, but local family trumped that plan. I've heard only good things about Austin except for heat/humidity.

You can buy a palace for $400k out there and live like an oil tycoon on $80k+ per year, especially if you don't have a house payment!

Look at kbhome.com, with houses starting at around $140k!

haha! i wish. it's not too unreasonable for a small complex. bigger complex around here run about $200...

btw...austin is beautiful. I'm actually from there. I'd say it's the only part of texas that is livable. It's only humid for like 2.5 months out of the year and very nice the rest of the time. My cuz just bought a "mansion" in pflugerville, right north of austin, for $185000!!!!!! 6 bedrooms, 3200 SQ, ****load of land, view of rolling hill country....

and the only thing she has to put up with is the humidity and weekly "*****!" call-out by hicks rolling by in a p/u

Yeah, I liked austin a lot when I went for work. I think our manufacturing guys live better than us engineers here in SCLA, lol

Are you working for Lockheed now?
