Anybody looking for a house?

Or know of someone who's hunting right now?

I got a 3/2.5 townhouse down in santa clara and I'm trying to avoid the realtor fees (or at least minimize it), so I"m just trying to spread the word myself...

btw...anybody ever sold a house? first time for me...advice would be appreciated.

My little brother is a realtor and would hook it up prolly..
If i were u, i would for sure go with a realtor cause there is a mountain of confusing paper work that is needed when selling a house... Trust me.. i just sold my Condo not to long ago and it took like an hour just to sign all the papers...

my lil bros # is 510-759-3572.. his name is james..

thanks guys. Yeah, I have a realtor already right now...but he'll cut his commission all the way down to 1%, basically just to take care of paperwork, if I can bring in my own buyer.

btw...here's the listing.

Do you not realize what area you live in? 625k for a 3 bedroom house in santa clara is actually pretty reasonable.

The median house price throughout the southbay and up the peninsula is like 700-800k

werd...santa clara is pricey. it's no palo alto or even sunnyvale, but it's valued a bit higher than san jose, milpitas, and fremont.

btw, there's only 1 other 3 BR townhouse in santa clara that's priced lower than ours.

I know where I live it's a comment about how pricey the housing are around the bay area. Not saying that it's not reasonable, more of a comment about affordable. Unless you make 100K + a year, this is not affordable, considering that you also have to pay for the high pricing of other commodities. Even with 100K a year, you can barely afford for downpayment and have a good savings.

Yes, 100K+ is a must if you want to own a home in the bay area (more like 150k+, lol)

Dual income family FTW

yeah, to qualify for a normal 30 year fixed, you'd need approx $130K annual salary.

that's not too abnormal for a married couple working in the silicon valley. of course, you can always go with those crazy option-ARMs

Yup, 130K is typical for silicon valley workers, but I think less then 20% of bay area residences work there.

I wonder how could people afford housing these days.

And 600K for a single family house anywhere in the bay area is considered an okay price. i mean for a 30+ year old house. it just seems unreal to anybody not in the bay area, how can you justify spending 600K on a fix up. Real crazy and to some extend it just doens't make sense. I guess just supply and demand.

Note to self, got to start dealing drugs to buy house......

yeah, i know I'm selling. but it's ridiculous. we're actually considering moving away...as in far away to seattle or portland or austin. unfortunately, the income drops along with the housing prices. oh wells, the price we pay for beautiful weather, good food, and access to tahoe

I was in seattle for a while worked there but you really don't want to go there.. it rains all the time.. but that's not the main issue.. the main thing is there is nothing to do there. If you can get a job at microsoft then it's all good but if you can't then.. you will have a hard time finding a job.

nah...plenty to do up there....especially for aerospace engineering (my field). in fact, it's better to be a rocket scientist up there than here. I don't mind the rain so much, but you're right...it'd get old after a while. portland, I think would be a good compromise.
