Take the steroids, my doctor told me not to wear the lap belt in the car because of the enlarged spleen. Why are the labs taking so long? I went to an urgent care and they just did a finger ***** and had the results back in like 10 minutes.

Yep I just had it fairly recently. Lasted me from Thanksgiving till around the end of December and I missed 2 weeks of work. Make sure you drink alot of water, preferably no other fluids than that (OJ is good tho). Get alot of sleep... if you can sleep in just go ahead and do it since your body is trying to fight off the mono. Try to eat healthy and take some multivitamins. If your tonsils get swollen / infected looking like mine did, gargle with warm saltwater twice a day... works better while in the shower cause it will help you spit up any mucus or infectious crap in the back of your mouth. Chew gum since it helps prevent you from swallowing and have icewater or ice cream too for the swelling. Even though I don't have mono anymore my right tonsil is still swollen slightly and my doctor said it probably wont go away or will just take longer to. Good luck.

Once you get mono and recover you'll have it in your system for the rest of your life. But yes then you will be immune to it because you already have it.... though won't be able to give it to others (non contaigous).

Thanks for the advice, I have been gargling... I'll try it in the shower though and see what's up...

Once you get mono it is highly improbable that you will get it again. However your chances of getting the virus that caused it, Epstein Barr, remain the same

If you don't do what they tell you, you might get over it for awhile, then have a relapse. Most people have actually had it and didn't know, just thought it was the flu or something.

Hey Oaf,
I feel your pain. Being hurt in BCT is not fun. I thought it'd be a great idea to go to a hockey camp the month before I went to get me in a little better shape. Horrible idea. I showed up 3 days after I left with shine splints. Not only was I physically busted but I was miserable to begin with. Assage sucking commenced in superflous amounts almost instantly upon my arrival at Ft. Benning.

Had it once when I was like 14. Just to echo what everyone else has said, you'll feel tired for about 2 weeks. Pretty much all you can do is sleep it off. Drinking some Sprite seemed to help me through it, because you won't want to eat. The upside is that you will probably lose some weight because you won't be eating, so it's like a diet by force. :-)

Good luck, get well soon!
