Anyone from iclub here a surveyor? I'm exploring some other career options at the moment and next Tuesday I'll be taking the entry level math exam for NCSJAC.
Northern California Surveyors Joint Apprenticeship Committee
If anyone here is currently in this line of work, how long did it take after passing the math exam until your training/employment began? Fyi, it took them over 1.5yrs to finally respond back to me after I submitted my application.
I know its a long shot but hoping somebody here knows, thanks!

I was a member with that exact group from 2007 to 2011. When the economy didn't suck and when the state had money, it was awesome! Worked sooo much, lots of money, great starting wage and they make it really easy to get raises. But when it got slow...there was a year where I had like 8-9 months of no work...
If you get in with the right company, you will be just fine. Some companies like to work their lower people more especially during slow periods (winter), others don't like to teach their lower people.
To answer your question, I was hired with a company thru a relative, so she set me up with the program and after taking my math class, had work immediately. So I got lucky. If you get hired soon, you'll have work most likely because the weather is nice...but as soon as it starts raining, done...You have to be good at saving money for the slow months.
By the way, if you get hired by a company and you don't like how they treat you in the sense of even work, apply somewhere else...its worth it to just get out.
Any questions, PM me
