Any shops have openings soon?
Hi,
Did a few installs, coming up empty on patience and knowledge regarding my car. Was running fine before. 2002 4eat wrx with a sti intercooler, short dp, and an sti up pipe.
Did the timing belt with a lightly used gates or greddy or some reinforced model, new pulleys and tensioner and a perrin crank pulley with new gates belts. Did the plugs with iridiums 1 step colder, put a pnpd (used) td04 on, a perrin turbo inlet, and pnp oem headers. Did all my fluids and air filter and put it back together and gave it 5 gallons of new gas (hardly a drop of gas left in the tank, at least none I could siphon out.
Primed the turbo this morning by pulling the ignition fuse and cranking it 5 times for 5-7 seconds. Started the car and it idles really rough at about 1k, engine rocks back and forth, light smoke rising off the turbo (guessing gaskets and oil etc. but not sure now).
Turned the car off, pulled the plugs, passenger side plugs have oil on em and driver's side look brand new. Going to switch out to regular heat copper plugs and change the fuel filter and see if it helps at all, but I'm skeptical. Thought it might be timing, but I lined everything up before hand and triple checked and pulled the left and right covers and checked the marks again and they look good. Research says plugs, coilpacks, timing, or fuel, but I can't spend anymore time armchair diagnosing when I don't exactly know what I'm looking for.
Any shops have openings soon so I can have the car towed there and diagnosed/repaired? Thanks all, very frustrating experience, but I guess there's a reason why you don't touch certain things better left for the pros. As far as tuning, I have an xede with a stage 1 OTS map, but it wasn't hooked up at the time of trying to start it.
