5. Current Open Position: Database Developer (San Francisco)
We are looking for a Senior Relational Database Developer to design and develop new database schema to support medical image analysis for clinical trials. This is a highly regulated area and the qualified candidate should have effective database skills, have a methodical approach, and should thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Scientific background would be desirable.
As a Senior Relational Database Developer at Synarc, you will be responsible for maintaining pre-existing databases for specific clinical studies and helping evaluate design and implementation options for new databases. You will work with the Software Development Manager of Medical Imaging Technology, the Database Manager, the software engineering team, and other external and internal entities to bring projects in under time and according to specifications. Synarc is a new company, which is embarking on the process of creating software applications in a variety of areas; you will have the chance to make a real difference.
Responsibilities:
Architect, build, code and release generic Database modules
Build SQL query modules, stored procedures, triggers, views and complex reports
Design and Develop GUIs
Write UNIX shell programming scripts
Develop data transfer specifications and create design and requirement documents
Debug code, fix bugs and ensure database programs work properly
Troubleshoot, test and prevent downtime through regular diagnostics, consistency checks by writing data cleaning tools and adhoc queries.
Perform intermediate DBA tasks and performance tuning
Experience in developing in medical imaging environment is desired.
Experience with interfacing application code with relational databases is desired.
Ability to work in team environment is must.
Perform other related duties directed by Manager, Software Project Development
Qualifications:
BS/BSCS or MS
7+ years of Sybase or Oracle (Sybase preferred) and Unix experience
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills - both verbal and written
Knowledge of scripting languages is desired
Willingness to work in a highly regulated, Standard Operating Procedure-driven environment; knowledge of Good Clinical Practice desired, but not mandatory
