any recomendations about body shops in sf?

before i ask anymore questions about the body shop issue, i will tell you my story or my explaination about why i need a body shop.

i was in an accident on saturday, dec 6. the rain was pouring and i was driving downhill on O'Shaughnessy going about 20mph in nutral when a black civic slams on his brakes as he enters the curve which speed limit is restricted to 20mph. while the civic was braking, a 76 chevy pickup slams on his brakes to avoid any collusion ( the driver ends up tapping the civic and the civic takes off) i am 2 car spaces behind the chevy when i see all this and i slam on my brakes also. ( the brake pedal was shuddering while this happened) instead of going head on with the chevy, i pull to the right during the last seconds and CRASH. my right headlight is gone and so is the right fender.

the chevy driver and i exchange info and i called my insurance company.

my agent said it was my fault.

damn that sucks...

is it my fault? owell

my gf and my brother were in the car also
and the chevy driver said i was pretty far behind but due to the lack of traction from the wet roads and reaction time, im left speachless..

well anyways...

can someone give me some recomendations for body shops in sf?

you'll prolly get a load of places that do good work.

Here's one: Yip's Auto World on Mission St (near Geneva Ave). I took my WRX in when some SUV door was kicked open and dented my rear panel. Pretty big dent from a big heavy door...got it back and it looked like new.

Though I've had other friends who've gone to them with far more extensive damage and came out really good.

And there's Eur-Asia Motors on Bryant...ex GF went there a few times with her Ford Focus

I'm sure you'll get other recommendations shortly...good luck

In California...if you rear-end somebody...it is your fault, no questions asked.

they will always say that you should be traveling at a safe speed with regard to the conditions and allow enough space between you and the car in front of you. doesn't matter if it was raining or snowing or whatever.

so ya, you're kinda screwed on that

as far as body shops...I know a guy who does paint and body work....he's right between 280 and 101 in the south part of SF just off Cesar Chavez

he redid my rear bumper when someone smacked it while it was parked downtown. The entire back, left corner was crunched in and the paint was majorly messed up. He had it for a few days and it looks like new now. He's painting my sideskirts for me too
He did a great job and he's a hell of a nice guy. He's been doing it for 30 years.

The place is called Paint by Franco
they guys' name is Franco (duh)
give him a call at 415-641-4346

You can tell him Kris with the Yellow Subaru told you to call...he might give you a deal, but I can't speak for him
