How are the CD turntables? I'm very curious about those. They cost a grip, I know that. I was just wondering about how they function and stuff opposed to vinyl.

Pioneer CDJ-1000 MK2 is the standard right now. With the Technics SLDZ-1200 gaining ground. Pioneer has a lower model, the CDJ-800, also. They are all pretty good. I'd like to get one so I can scratch stuff I've made. Cuz pressing wax is $$$.

what he said ^ the pioneers are nice but they don't support mp3 audio. they let you get more creative and are a good addition to a starndard dj set up. nothing beats vinyl for scratching but if your mixing its really nice to have one.

I love music, and I am really tempted by lots of stuff music-wise, but I just don't know where to get started.

well I have Stanton Direct drive tables with very few hours and a nice SK@F Limited Edition mixer, with a crooked digital fader. The fader is mega awesome, when it worked, I think it got messed up from me moving it to and from school dance and home though, not from battling or scratching. The statons are for sale as is the mixer, PM me if interested. Sorry for the thread hijack, but mixing is super cool, but I need money for my cars which is and will always be my main passion.

I'll post my setup later.

I am starting to play around with Garage Band 2. I opened it up while Reason was open and went into slave mode with Reason controlling. Pretty sweet.

I am listening to that LOTR track you did. Neat!

Has anyone played with the DVJ-X1 DVD turntable?

Hmmm....since I don't work with video at all, I wouldn't know about that particular feature. Overall, though, Logic 7 is pretty sweet—Apple has done a pretty good job with making it a tiny bit easier to use, while keeping all the crazy features that Logic fans appreciate. And it is amazingly stable...that's what you get when the OS and Programs are designed by the same company.

Nope, but I saw DJ Shadow last year and his show using the DVJX1 was unbelievable...the backup vocals for this one song were pre-produced by the same mc, recorded to dvd and josh was scratching them in with the live mc between verses.
