Frankly - there isn't enough margin in most performance parts to do a significant discount.

If I want to save myself money I'll shop online. If I want to support a local shop I'll buy it at a price that helps them stay in business. No sense in making them move a product for little to no profit. But thats just me and another way to look at things.

The loss leader thing is a crock these days... nothing in the performance industry (other than sub $10 items) really has any margin anymore. I can tell you, when I was still in the industry, we were happy to get 14% on a $2000 set of wheels. Most business need to make 30-50% to be profitable.
The catalogs wrecked it in the 1990's - that's why you don't see local speed shops like Super Shops or Speed Merchant anymore. Most of you guys are probably too young to have experienced walking into a speed shop and walking out with what you needed.

The problem is that no one understands businesses or pricing anymore. Consumers set an arbitrary price that they think they should get a product for without knowing the cost of the product to the retailer or the overhead of running the business.
