Any modded evo IX owners here? I want a test drive
Better as in opinion, or better as in faster lap times, higher skidpad numbers or faster slolom?
People complain about the STi interior, but the evo looks like a civic with recaros. Hopefully they do a big makover on the interior of the evo X.

lol..its really not that bad and driver oriented. The STi interior isnt exactly pure luxury with the painted silver plastic and bright blue fabric. And yes, the recaros are pure sex. It was like being spooned by the seat
I cant remeber the magazine but im looking and yes the STi outperformed the evo IX mr what the magazine article writers consider to be "one of the best handling cars in the world"
THe kit was only like endlinks and stablizers bars

thats just one magazine article. Track times and lots of other publications and reviewers say the evo wins hands down in the handling department
Its kinda silly that you gotta spend a 1000+ on an STi, just to make it similar to a stock evo (235 wide tires, 24mm rear sway, front strut bar are all stock on an evo). Not to mention the crappy STi seats and steering rack

One guy in a STOCK IX put down 236/241 on the GS dyno. 100% bone stock. Stock STis put down 215-220 on the same exact dyno.

FYI, my stock 06 put down 230+ hp and tq on the G-S dyno. 240 hp and tq with just the Helix catback. Power would probably be higher if I wasn't running 18" wheels and oversize tires. Mike was rather surprised by the numbers actually. Also, the Evo has a frontmount, which may help it get higher numbers on a dyno; but on the road, the STI's numbers will likely increase due to better airflow to the topmount.

The evo IX is a whole different beast. Add TBE, filter, mbc, and a tune to a IX and you will smote on an equally modded STi all day everyday, some guys pull 12.9s bone stock and low to mid 12s without any tuning. There have been a few guys that have run 11.9's in their IXs with the stock turbo, ic, and cams. I dont think a stock turbo STi will ever ever get into the 11s
But this is completely OT. Like I said before, If I wanted a drag car I wouldnt have even bought an STi. An 03-04 cobra will pwn all in that category with less than 2gs in mods.
Racing in a straight line gets old fast. I would get the IX for its handling, the potentional to uncork 300whp+ with minimal work is just a perk. If I want to hit 300 on the GS dyno with my STi I gotta dishout at least another 1000 bucks (headers, wrap/coat everything, meth, and a pro-tune). THe fact is the stock STi turbo is a pea-shooter and a less efficient setup than the tdo5/16g that evo has.
Some good reading. Obviously a bit bias since its from an evo board.

And there seems alot more STi to Evo than Evo to STi switches. IF anyhting, its evo VIII to evo IX

^You don't have to sell me. If you know all this, then why do you need to test drive a modded Evo? It seems to me that you already have all the info you need on paper.
I on the other hand, actually prefer my car, in spite of all the performance benefits (perceived or actual) of the Evo. I enjoy the interior, the feel of driving it, the flat engine, the safety aspects, its exterior appearance, the lower price compared to the MR, and the fact that I can go to my dealership and have the owner herself to deal with when I trade this one in for an 08 or Spec B LGT. If your main concern is the performance aspect of a vehicle, what are you waiting for?

well it depends on where you bought it from. South coast sells the evo IX brand spanking new for 28k right now, the MR for 33k (RS is only 26k)
I paid about 32k for my STi. Final payoff will be close to 39k
