Any Interest? HUGE Meet.
MODS: Can I get a sticky?
Alright, guys, meets and drives are a blast, but usually the group is the same group and we don't usually get a chance to meet a lot of people that are out of our immediate area.
I know other clubs/groups have done huge meets before, and they were both fun and successful. I'm wondering if you guys would want to have a CA, or USA meet in a cool city like Vegas or something?
There's a TON of stuff to do in Vegas for the 18 and up crowd. If we planned the trip during the week, room rates are insanely low (and we might be able to hook up a group deal) and on the weekend people could even share rooms to save some money.
There is a track in Vegas so we could have a track day, we could hang out at some of the cool theme parks like at the Circus Circus, we could drink, gamble and basically just have a week of debauchery.
What do you think? We could all caravan out there too. It's not a bad drive at all ( unless you're in a Chevy Cavalier
) and we could even plan a touristy drive with cool roads and stuff to see along the way.
What do you think?! If there is enough interest, I'd be willing to help plan it with another person and we could make sure we stay in a great hotel on a weekend where it should be relatively slow. Maybe we could get magazine coverage or something if we go big enough

sorry sonicsuby, but i can't stand Vegas. And would not drive that far to be stuck in a town i couldn't wait to leave. If it was somewhere like....Morro Bay so we could meet some So Cal Subies and be in a beautiful place i would probably go.
But don't pay any attention to me. I hope you get lots of post from others that share your same idea. and get a good meet
later- rich

ahh, I see. I was kind of thinking more about like..a place where we could all meet up and hang out. A beautiful area like Morro Bay would be nice, but what is there to do there? That's my only concern. In Vegas, or other cities like it, there's stuff to do 24/7, but in Morro Bay..there's the beach, and ...?

three suggestions/comments:
1) if you want to do some sort of huge vegas meet, do it in conjunction with the annual SEMA show. getting a group of folks together and then caravaning out to Vegas for SEMA would be pretty damn cool.
2) i don't suppose we'd get some track time at this super tuner shootout if it's being held at a track would we? there is no way i'd drive from the bay area to Willow Springs or Buttonwillow to sit arround for hours in the heat. both Buttonwillow and SoW can get well into the 100s in the summer, and can be miserable with wind and rain in the winter.
3) Morro is pretty, but there isn't much to do there. San Luis is better, but the drive from the bay area down there is boring as hell.

Another idea would be to have it towards the end of summer, or whenever STUFF magazine has their casino weekend at the Palms. They just had it this past weekend, but I don't know when it would be next year.
This, of course, would limit participation to the 21 and up crowd (at least for those wanting to hang out at the Ghostbar with Brooke Burke, Jenny McCarthy and other celebs), but would still be pretty hot

anything in Vegas pretty much limits you to the 21 and up crowd, there really isn't that much to do there if you are under age. if enough people were going to caravan, i bet you could work something out with a hotel in terms of a group rate. i've been to track schools that have gotten hotels to give discounts for their students, so i can't imagine that it would be too hard if we got 30+ Subaru drivers together to get some sort of group rate at one of the hotels on the strip.

yes you would get track time, there would be 1/4 mile, auto-x and road course available at different times throughout the weekend.
i don't suppose there is a website for this supertuner gig is there?
