Ok, here's the deal. My WRX engine is busted. Not sure what's wrong and therefore don't know what I want to do about it yet. I can purchase a whole new engine and get it swapped in pretty easily, but I'm exploring the option of putting in a built 2.5L. If that were the case I'd like to put a set of WRX heads (hopefully the ones I have) on there for the time being until I have more money, at which time I'd like to do a full STI drivetrain swap (but with my built 2.5L shortblock).

Does anybody have the facilities/know-how to tear one of these motors down and diagnose the problem? I would really like to avoid paying shop rates for that work and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty as well. I just dont have an engine hoist, stand, the proper tools, or the required knowledge. Anybody have any suggestions?
