Any DJers around?

So I wanted to get into DJing a little bit, not really looking into buying a whole set and throwing gigs or whatever, just something to play around with.

So I was looking at these 4 sets...

What do you guys think? What's the best way to start off?

I'm selling my keyboard. I know its not what your looking for but maybe someone else. It literally does everything a DJ would want to do...not a pro DJ but someone just trying to have fun.

vinyl all the way, if younplan on going with turntables 1200s are your best bet.

Have fun with the DJ thing, it was fun when I was in the scene.

what happens when you have to do a wedding? Sucks luggin around 3k+ worth of vinyls. Never know what random requests you'll get.

I guess for a club its aight since you mostly play top 40 and a few oldies.

I just converted to digital a couple of years ago...6 years on lugging around crates of vinyl hurts the back...but i just recorded all of my rare vinyl to mp3 and now all I bring to a club is my Serato Vinyl and Macbook pro... If you are starting off I would check craiglist and pick up a pair of Technics 1200s like a couple of people already said... you can't go wrong with 1200s...

If you are 21 and free this Friday im djing in concord at a club called Agave on willow pass rd... I will be more than happy to show you what equipment i have and even let you try em out if you want...

I was learning on a couple tables, a Vestax mixer, and Serato myself last week from a friend who spins at Blake's in Berkeley on the weekends. I was looking into getting a setup like that to practice on. I really like it since I've always wanted to play some tunes for people. I usually make random hip-hop "mixtapes" for friends in the past.

I have two of the Technics SL-DZ1200 I'm looking to get rid of (they are cd turntables). I'm looking to get rid of them for $325 each including road ready cases for each of them. This is them right here:

http://www.turntablelab.com/dj_equip...5/17/5018.html

I also have an old PMC-06 Vestax mixer. Gotta get a new crossfader for it. Prob let the mixer go for like a $100 and a new fader is about $70.

Let me know if your interested.

I on the other hand am looking to get some Vestax PDX-3000 Mix turntables to replace my 1200s.

I would stick to the good ol 1200's, decent mixer, and get yourself Serato.

WOW what a steal!

Shoot thats a hell of a deal. I like the 06's but my all time fave 06 is the PMC-06T, gangsta status.

good deal!

Yeah I haven't used my 06 in a long time ( I got it when I was in college). I got an 05 a long time ago to replace it. Back in the day I always wanted the 07 because that's what ISP used. Just never had that kind of money to spend on that mixer. Also they had dope *** face plates at the Vestax store in Japan. Although they wouldn't let me just buy a faceplate there, I had to buy the whole mixer. They had the 06 with the Giants orange face plate.

The bigger steal are the Technics cd turntables with the case. I bought those things new for about $600 a piece. Thought I was gonna go all CDs and use the Serato on the Cd turns but I missed the feel of vinyl. Would rather use Serato with the control Vinyl despite what my friends call me when I do that. So now those turns are just eating up space.

Chinoboy: Get some quality gear you'll be a lot happier in the long run. My friend wants to get the Vestax Itch http://www.vestax.com/v/products/players/vci-300.html That may be something you can look into.

I like vinyl but if you are starting out, CD turns might be the way to go. I recommend keeping an eye on craigslist for deals. People are always looking to get rid of their old gear.

And one of my fav vids...if only I could skratch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze6yCgi1N-g

I appreciate you offering to sell your setup. But I'm not ready to spend $900+ for a midi controller, DJing is not yet something I really want to dedicate a good portion of my $$ to, especially when I have to get stuff for my car

What do you guys think of this?

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Stanton-...14-i1425312.gc

It's a Stanton DaScratch controller... Saw some youtube demos of it and it's pretty cool
