Any Best Buy Employees?

Does best buy have any official price match policy against online retailers like amazon or newegg?

I know unofficially they can do it, and under price adjustment in the computer can select "price match", but they are usually not willing to do it.

I'm looking to buy a new AVR, probably going for an Onkyo NR1007, NR3007 or NR5007. Where I get it from will depend.

Amazon has some great prices on all three. I can get two of the models shipped free, tax free.

Newegg has nearly the same deals, but include an Ipod Dock for the AVR, but will charge tax. Looks like shipping is free right now.

I don't need an ipod dock, I could care less about it. So Amazon is winning right now.

But I would be cool to see if I can get it from Best buy at amazon pricing.

So, I was just wondering. More than likely I'll save the $100-180 and get it from amazon anyways, but figured I ask anyone in the know.

Not too sure about that, as the computers guy referred me to buying off newegg once ha. I know for sure that they will match retail stores (frys etc) except for Black Friday. I can find out for you if you want.

I doubt that.. I used to work at best buy awhile back but we only priced matched local stores.

My suggestion is talk to the supervisor or a full-time employee who is usually engaged and wants to up their revenue numbers. Personal shopping/business shopping assistants have the ability to discount along with much of the full-time employees. Audio equipment usually has enough margin to get 10-20% off. When I bought my AVR I got 160$ off as employee but the Klipsch floor standing speakers was 50% off. Also if they don't offer much with the unit negotiate if you buy any accessories or service plan at a discounted price.

I think you might have better luck during evening hours. Depending on our numbers for the day, if we were off on revenue but high on margin we would cut people deep discounts to get some revenue to make good numbers for the night. GL

^^^ What Eric said. When I bought our Sony XBR tv about a year and change ago, I made sure to deal directly with the department manager for the electronics. I basically asked her why I should spend my money there rather than saving a couple hundred and buying online from a different, cheaper distributor. She asked what the prices were online from the various sites for the tv, and I told her (yes I was honest) what it was going for along with the fact that most of the sites offer free shipping. She told me that Best Buy does not offer price matching of online distributors, but she told me that if I bought the tv right then and there, that she would take the price down as low as she could while still maintaining her job.

In case you are wondering Eric, it was Sarah (Sara?) at our local store. She ended up selling it for like $200 off the BB price, which was only around $30 shy of the cheapest online site. In the end it is far more worthwhile to spend that money at BB, as they have one of the best return policies (or at least they did then, don't know about now) where you basically return within a set amount of days FOR ANY REASON, and can exchange or get a full refund. Online sites almost always give the old "DEAD PIXEL POLICY" speech. I like being able to buy a tv, and keep exchanging until I get a perfect sample without dead/stuck pixels.
